Is it wrong in me to feel "weirded" out by the ex wifes family
ok...so I guess Im fortunate that my husbands ex family is so nice to us. But, its almost to the point of FAKE!
Last night we were at a ballgame seeting across the gym from the ex grandmother. THe ex grand mother makes a point to come set down by us and wants to hold the baby. Well, of course, I let her becasue I am not a mean person. THen she goes on to tell me if I EVER needed a baby sitter to please keep her in mind that she would love to. Then she starts playing with his hair and looking at his nails and seems to be examining him. She finally says its time for her to go.
Its just a weird situation. I am a nice person, but I just feel so awkward when she around.
I know it is awesome that they get along, but in a sense it is very weird. I always leave wondering if she is really being nice or was it a scene.
Does anyone else have weird moments with the ex's

I do. Because we have such a
I do. Because we have such a good relationship with BM#2 her family feels obligated to be friendly and over nice also. We have built an actual true friendship with BM but not with them. They are just trying to be supportive though so I deal with it. If the main stress I get from our BM#2 relationship is some awkwardness, I'll take it. Especially when I think of the alternative and see the evidence of it all over this website!
I feel that way around BM's
I feel that way around BM's mom. She is a nice enough person. (although she is where BM gets her "work ethic" or lack thereof, from). She is always friendly to me and DH. Compliments me on my clothes, my accessories, my make up. (she is WAY prettier than BM, and has a pretty good sense of style). But it is uncomfortable. I avoid her at all cost, when I can. I just don't like being forced to "play nice" with someone.
No, I think it's normal to
No, I think it's normal to find it odd when the ex-in-laws go out of their way to be friendly. I personlly hate it and all interaction just feels forced. Besides that DH throws it in my face that they are always "nice" to me when I complain that they have done something 2-faced like told us how horrible a mother their daughter is but then refuse to back us up in attempts to get the kids out of her home or stupid things like telling me how lovely my wedding ring is but then calling BM to tell her that we should be giving her more money because clearly we have it based on "that giant rock".
Anyway, sorry I strayed off topic...I do believe they are "nice" because I am a big part of their grandchildrens lives, I'm good to them by all accounts and sadly as they have said they fear that someday we will end their contact with the children. (something we would never do) I guess it will always feel odd, I personally cringed when I handed my newborn son over to the BM's mother and she remarked on how adorable he was but I always try to remember that they are trying to make the best of an bad situation just like us.
Maybe it's the baby? BM's
Maybe it's the baby? BM's parents were always cordial to us when attending sporting events or other programs. But when DH and I had our first baby, they seemed to get overly friendly with us. We received an unexpected gift from them in the mail. And while DH and BM were fighting for custody of SS, her parents would always want to know how my baby was doing, if I had any pictures of him, or any cute stories I could share. Some people just generally adore babies.
The hardest part for me was when BM came up to me and she coochy-coo'ed my baby while I was holding him just outside the courtroom door waiting for our custody hearing for SS. She completely ignored me and touched my baby! :jawdrop: I was in such shock that my only reaction was a dropped jaw.
Yep not only weird out but
Yep not only weird out but embarrassed too. Bm is very 'nice' to us in public as she doesn't want anyone to know how nasty she really is as it is all about appearances to her. HOWEVER her mom could care less as she will let it be known how much she hates me and she refuses to sit anywhere near us which is fine with me. BUT she will stand by the exit and walk back and forth to talk to bm in her ear. Or she will scream at the coach or the teacher or whoever it might be.
I try not to sit next to bm at anyh event but last time it was an accident, I was looking for a place to sit when I saw an opening and we sat but then bm came and sat in front of me then I realized her sister and mom was sitting on the other side. OOPS! then Bm's mom got mad and said she was leaving and stomped off! Yep she left b/c dh and I came to the game. We found out later that that was why she stomped off.
I don't understand why that has to happen? But if I were you I wouldn't let her hold my child.
BM touched my son, sent
BM touched my son, sent gifts, displayed photos (given to SS's) but has attempted to run me over, spit in my face and generally been a horrible person. I think with my BM it was an attempt to show DH that she could accept my child into "her family" so he should just leave me and "come home now"...as she told him when I was 9 mnths pregnant. She still makes a point of telling DH how adorable he is while completly ignorning me. But maybe your BM is just a baby person. It is hard not to love a baby but I'm not sure I would be so in love with DH's new baby should he and I divorce someday??? Who really knows what makes them tick?!

BM has no family here. One
BM has no family here. One cousin who trashes me on FB thru SD page but we ignore her. My family and my ex's family treat BF and SD very well. Kinda wierd LOL. But at every school function for my BS17 they are very nice to all of us. I kept a good relationship with the ex-inlaws. Good but not too close. He thought it was kinda wierd at first but now he is used to it
I feel the same way -
I feel the same way - completely weirded out.
Maybe it really is the babies, I never thought about it like that, but it makes sense.
BM's mom once said that my kids are her grandkids' siblings so that makes us all family. I guess it's easier for them to accept my kids and me as family, than it is for a me to accept the ex-in-laws as family.
They keep inviting us in whenever we pick up the kids, and it is totally weird. I wish they would simply be civil and keep their distance, rather than be so damn friendly. It makes us look bad in front of the kids when we have to say, "No thanks, we have to get going." I don't trust those people, even if they're being nice and especially when they're being nice.
wow...I soooo understand and
wow...I soooo understand and agree. Just say hello and bye bye! haha
