When I joined this group my SD9 was giving me her usual shit and this time it was for a project at school. This past weekend something weird happened. The project that she pissed and moaned about is due the 23rd and orginally was just a book report. Her teacher had sent home a letter saying that all kids need to write this summary and have it ready for the 23rd. She did it after DH put his foot up her ass, but it got done. So this past friday we got a letter and a rubric saying that she needed to do a project and present it as well as write the report. Not in the original assignment! So SD is freaking out. She had plans to go to a friends house and now those were canceled by both parties cause of this last minute project. I expected her to bock and fuss. Instead.... she came to me fri night after dinner and asked for MY help because "Youre so smart and I really NEED to get an A." If she bombs this she fails 3rd grade and she knows it. So I asked what she wanted to make for her project and she decided to make a fact board. Off to Walmart and we bought the crap to make it. Then she asks if I could put it together for her. I thought "HA! I knew there was a catch!" But then SD says she'll get all the info ready and show me where to put things because she knows her handwritting sucks and so does her paste skills, she wants me to assemble the board. Okay... I'll do it, but I was thinking "no way, Ill get stuck doing the WHOLE thing."

We got home and POOF she did just as she said she would. All I needed to do was cut and paste the info for her. It was kinda this weird bonding thing. So her project got done and turned out really nice. The info she gathered was awesome. Warm fuzzy feeling of pride in SD building....

Sat morning. She made her bed! Oh and she made the other kids breakfast (poptarts and milk) and she let me sleep til 8. Holy crap. Wow. DH was so impressed by her effort that we had Chinese for dinner. A treat to reward her for her very unusual good behaivor. So now Im waiting for the nuke. Its the quiet before the storm. Instead SD asks to "have a chat" with me. :?

She wanted to say she was sorry for "being a stupid little whiney brat and treating you like some wicked step mom". I just sat in awe. She told me that she was very hurt by the things BM had said and thought they were true but she realized that it was all lies. "Really, -85- youre not bad. I know that your a strict mom because you want me to be something special in life and not be an epic fail like my mother. Thats why you have rules. Im sorry I just now figured this all out but from now on I really will try to be good and not piss you off... I mean upset you." :jawdrop:

So far this week no issues. BM texted DH to say that SD told her shes staying an extra day bc of the cheering comp this weekend and she needs me to help her practice. Maybe she turned a new leaf, or.......
