You'd think grown ups would know better than engaging in bullying. Grownups that have been through some rough patches in life, who should have had enough pain in their lives, to feel empathy. What satisfaction does one get by this? Are these the same people that bullied others at school? Give me a reasonable discussion and I will hear you and maybe see things in a way I had not seen before. call me names, spread lies, dismiss me, and I will never see where you are coming from. Pointless.

First off, you assume they're "grown up". I believe that some people are just so unhappy that they lash out at everything around them. Some people feel more important when they belittle others. Happy, well adjusted people do not bully others. I despise bullying! I TRY to see where others are coming from...what their motivations are...did they just have something traumatic happen, etc. But some people are just mean. We have no control over that. The only thing we do have control over is our reactions. These days, I don't feel I have that much control over those either! LOL

Thanks. Part of what is hard to understand is why resentment and hatred are supposedly a badge of having been through something hard and painful, and someone trying to remind themselves what empathy and fairness are about, somehow means they have not" been there". Part of me feels like listing all the pain my step parenting experience has brought me, but part if me feels like I don't owe anyone such a display, just to placate their anger and disdain.
But yeah, this is little compared to the bigger things in life; still disappointing.

I think resentment and hatred show that somebody is living in the past and has not moved on. People who have moved on do show empathy...even to people who have wronged them. It's called forgiveness, and that is mandatory for our own well being. The only person that extended anger and resentment hurts is ourself. People who are miserable to others are just that...miserable. Just my humble opinion.
