Dear Valued Users,
It's with a heavy heart that we announce the permanent closure of StepTalk.org on August 31st, 2025.
This decision wasn't an easy one. For over twenty years, StepTalk has been a source of support for stepparents around the world! However, over the years, the costs associated with maintaining and upgrading the site to remain secure, meet current standards and maintain availability have become unsustainable.
We are incredibly grateful for your support, contributions and the community you've helped us build. Your engagement has made StepTalk.org a special place and we cherish the memories and connections made here.
We would especially like to thank Aniki for volunteering to be a moderator and for caring so much.
Thank you for being a part of our journey and we wish you all the best.
Sincerely,
Dawn and The StepTalk Team

I would just like to
I would just like to say....good for you on going for the twin bed instead of the toddler bed that you have to replace quickly. I am realizing I have to get bunkbeds or something quickly here with my 2 and 4 year old and it feels like I just bought them beds.
I never had a toddler bed
I never had a toddler bed when I was a kid. I didn't even know they existed until I was 11, lol.
DH and I had great success putting SD straight to a toddler bed (even though MIL was pissed that I wouldn't let her buy a castle toddler bed }:) ) although we waited until she was 23 months before we promoted her. I just needed to do it sooner with DD because we have a baby due in 3 months and I didn't want her to think she was getting kicked out of her crib so the baby could have it, lol. I figure she will like the baby more if we made her getting a big bed something special and just about her

Create an extra space in the youth bedroom in your home with the Mates Twin Loft Bed in Cappuccino - Coaster Co. The loft bed features clean lines and smooth rounded edges. A top twin bunk is elevated, with a ladder for easy access. The other end of the bed features a desk study station. A generously sized top work surface and a left pedestal are functional, with two spacious drawers and a lower shelf for supplies. A storage unit on one side of the bed features a cabinet with lots of enclosed space to store clothing and toys with two spacious shelves for books and other items.

My oldest was 20 months and the youngest was 16 months..basically however long it took them to climb out of their cribs, which I never even bothered getting a real crib just the travel crib that had a bassinet attatchment.
The crib I got for my twins
The crib I got for my twins turns into a toddler bed then a regular full size bed, I believe. At 6 months, they still have plenty of room to cosleep but that will change here soon.

I love watching her grow and learn new things everyday, but I miss my cuddly little baby who used to just sleep in my arms all day. I wouldn't trade how she is now for anything though, she is amazing and so smart and she makes me laugh all the time
