So-Whos read the book Stepmonster?

Peaches1973's picture

I just ordered it last week,I figure I can use all the help I can get.The reviews on Amazon sounded very promising and Ive seen it mentioned here a time or two.
If you have read it I would love to get your thoughts-did you love it? Hate it? Did it help? Did you get DH to read it? If so did it help with your relationship?
Thanks Ladies (and Gentlemen if you have any say in the matter)

I agree with RisingAboveIt, its a good book! I feel better knowing everything I'm going through is typical, I'm not alone and most of all I'm not WRONG.

I read it after having it recommended to me on this site. Too LATE for me but it did put some things in their proper perspective. GREAT book. I am a minimalist and only own five books - Stepmonster is one of them.

I loved it. Granted, you may skip past the anthropoogy stuff. But, it will make you realize that you are not alone. I read it, sent it to my sister, and my BFF. It is such a good book.

Read it (along with quite a few books on Stepparenting!)

It gives a lot of perspective and understanding to why and what we are feeling, I enjoyed the anthropology stuff.

In terms of practical help and solutions - not so much.

"Step-Parenting, Everything You Need to Know to Make it Work" by Jeanette Lofas was really useful in terms of practical advice and solutions.

Both great books, and I highly recommend them both.

Loved it! Just makes you feel less alone. Husband reading right now. Agree on skipping the historical stuff.
