14year old SD smoking pot
I've been saying all along that she and her friends act strange...sleep alot, lay around, act lazy. Apparently, she started smoking pot this year on 4/20 at 4:20 (she's so cool). We received a call from the school, she was talking about it with a friend and was turned in anaymously by another student. DH has taken a hard stance, but BM said they pressured her into it....She took her babysitting money to the drug dealer and bought pot, she made the choice.
Now she's trying to pull everyone down with her. Told BM that we smoke pot, which we don't...however we do think it should be made legal and the government should tax the crap out of it like alcohol and quit tying up our court system. With that being said, we don't think it's appropriate for minors and SD knows this.
I'm sick of the drama, sick, sick, sick!

I agree with everything you
I agree with everything you said. I myself if it were to be legalized and there were no risks to losing my kids or paying fines, I would perfer to smoke over a drink anyday! I am also an adult and over the age of 21
Cigarettes are
Cigarettes are $5/pack..............where do you live, I am moving lol. Here they are any where from 7.00 to 8.50 a pack
Cigs are 5 bucks here too.
Cigs are 5 bucks here too. Look for Raves or Fortunas haha Similar to Basics and Marlboros.
What I need to do is quit lol
What I need to do is quit lol soooo hard to.
I would love for the gov't to
I would love for the gov't to legalize the stuff just for the mega amounts of tax dollards. Added bonus--you never hear of a pothead's kid starving!
No you also never hear of
No you also never hear of people beating their kids or spouses, robbing pharmecies or 7-11's the pot heads are to relaxed to move off the couch. I've done my research, no real health problems like booze or drugs (crack, coke, herion) DUI's kill people all the time. The money this country could make oh my, never mind all the other things that can be made out of hemp, paper, clothes. I think it should be taxed and controlled like alchol. JMO
I've told my Mom repeatedly
I've told my Mom repeatedly that that only thing a person on pot is going to do is drink a ton of Kool Aid and eat Funions or Doritos. THey may however drive 14mph to the nearest convienience store for more snacks.

hmm i think people are
hmm i think people are missing the point on this one....i dont care legal or not, none of our kids are allowed to smoke anything period. Alcohol is legal, but it will not be tolerated if SD drinks it, nor is it acceptable to smoke cigs for her. Smom, my SD just got caught using all the money she earned babysitting to buy weed. I am in the same boat as you. I can't stand to be around her. And FYI to people who use divorce as a cause for symptoms, I was a child of a divorce. I had step mom and dad, but it was clear on BOTH sides that if I stepped out of line, I would be knocked clean back onto it again. So no, I didn't run off to have sex, smoke dope or be an alcoholic at 14. Sometimes I think we need to stop making excuses for the behavior and start demanding they act like decent humans that can function in society.
Smoking pot? Meh. Smoking pot at 14? Like hell you will! Lying about dad and SM to cover your tush? Leave my house. That's my take on it at least. Good luck to you Smom
I'm not missing the point!
I'm not missing the point! You're right pot is not legal she should not be smoking it, you have to be 18 to purchase ciggs and 21 to drink. Not saying I didn't do all the above at say 16 but that is neither here not there, I would NOT want my kids doing it! I agree with you.
Her BM is a recovered addict
Her BM is a recovered addict and honestly my husband her BM have always thought she was some special prima donna, so now they're reaping the rewards. She's honestly a manipulative user and she learned it from her crackhead mother.
As a "many moons ago pothead"
As a "many moons ago pothead" I can say that I wouldn't want my kids smoking pot either. Not everyone reacts to pot in the same way. I, thankfully, never progressed into anything stronger. Nor, did I ever feel I was addicted. I'd stop for many years without giving it a second thought. Even now, many of my friends smoke and I can do without it. My BS14 tried it once. I caught him because of course, since I used to be a pothead, I could smell it on him despite the Listerine, the cologne, the gum and the eyedrops. I grounded him and started randomly drug testing him. Thankfully, it worked as a deterrent. I explained to him that if when he is an adult, with a career, a degree, a bank account, a car & his own place he decides he wants to smoke pot then that is his decision and I won't get all riled up about it. But for now, while I am footing all the bills and while he is in the crucial years of his life, he doesn't need the extra dash of laziness that pot would provide for an already laid back teen boy. He understands where I'm coming from and since he is now completely focused on his sports and gets random drug tests at school too, he refuses to risk getting kicked off the team for something like pot smoking.
I agree StepA.
I agree StepA.
My DH is a cop so we would
My DH is a cop so we would make arrangements for her to spend the night in jail and see how that feels. I'm sure you can do this in your town too. I would talk to them and see if you can "scare her strait" by having her spend the night in a jail cell. SD would not be allowed around my kids at all! I have a 2 yr old and soon I'll have a newborn this behavior would not be tolerated or I would be taking my kids and leaving my husband to fend for himself. I agree with everyone that it should be legal but I also agree that it should have an age limit such as alcohol does.
Ive had the same issue with
Ive had the same issue with my ss14. He started smoking pot right around his 13th birthday. He already is lacking in brain power so the last thing that kid needs is to smoke weed. He's already lazy, unmotivated-he needs to stay away from the weed!
by the time, he really got caught he had already progressed to trying to grow it in his bm's front yard. He moved in with us early this year, and as far as I know he never smoked weed here as we certainly dont have any here and we severly limited his ability to be out and about-I guess he could have got some at school. To me, it is also seriously unacceptable as I am in a profession in which it could severly damage my reputation and career if say a marijuana plant was found in MY front yard.
My ss14 also tried to throw dh and I under the bus very recently, by saying my dh was growing a garage full of pot and that he offered ss a joint a day in order to be nice to me. HOwever he wasnt nice so he had to move out. In reality he moved out as he stole my and my dd's panties and was an overall asshole. But I guess his pot story is more entertaining to him. Really sad, because dh and I are both drug free and ahve been for many years.
For an update...she took a
For an update...she took a tour of the jail and juvenile center...setup by me, not by her mother who doesn't have a full time job and has time to do this shit. She's getting a lot of attention and I don't think it's a good thing. I'm a tough love kind of person but I've realized they (the biological parents) will never make the decisions I would make so I just have to suppor my husband and quit banging my head against a wall. He consults with me before decisions are made so that's as good as it's going to get.
I feel that she's manipulative and vendictive. I don't know why she's a hateful person and never happy, it seems to be just the way she is and how she's been her whole life. She must be the center of attention, she must have absolute freedom, her own way and unlimited funds...this is all that makes her happy. I think all the counseling in the world won't change her she has her mother's personality and that of my husband's sister and mother. Very narcissistic.
