SS has been here for 2 hours and 15 mins and I am already counting down for him to LEAVE
DH picks up SS, we close up shop and go to a restaurant. SS eats and immediately wants to get up from the table. DH has to tell him about 20 times to sit down and wait. Then he starts asking for ice cream. Last time he had ice cream at this place he didn't like it and ended up leaving it. DH says we will go get ice cream somewhere else. Then SS starts asking for change for those little gumball machines that take a quarter and you turn the knob and they throw out some gum. Well this restaurant has like three candy ones and three toy ones. SS asks for money for the first machine DH says no. He asks for the second candy machine, DH says no. SS asks for the toy machine, DH says no. He asks for all six machines then asks for candy again. At this point I just want to leave, I am not even hungry anymore. I suggest we go buy our Christmas tree in the next town over and SS immediately says if we are going there can we go to the arcade? Really because I want to spend my Saturday afternoon watching SS play video games? I tell him we are not going to the arcade we are going to get a Christmas tree so he turns to DH and says, Dad? DH says we aren't going to the arcade and SS gets all pouty. Whatever.
We get home and I start to do some dishes while DH changes so we can go get the Christmas tree and SS comes into the kitchen with me. He closes the kitchen door and asks if he can let the cat in, I say yes. (My kitchen has two doors, one that leads into the dining room and one that leads into the patio. The cat lives out in the patio and I don't let him in the house because I don't want cat hair everywhere, so we always close the door to the dining room so he can walk in and out of the kitchen for a while. So I am washing dishes and I hear a beeping. I turn around and SS has set the timer for the deep fryer. SS likes to cook with me, which is fine, but he KNOWS not to touch things without asking me first because he could get hurt. So I ask him why he touched the button for the timer and he says he didn't, it went on on its own. LYING! I ask him again, again he lies. So I ask him, have I ever lied to you? He says no. I ask him, then why are you lying to me? He says nothing. I ask a third time if he turned it on and he says yes. I tell him the fryer is very dangerous because it gets very hot and if he wants to make something to ASK and we can use it later when I finish cleaning. He says ok and starts to play w the cat, I go back to washing dishes. Then he decides to leave and open the door to the dining room. I tell him to put the cat back in the patio if he is going to open the dining room door and he says i am just gonna squeeze through and sure enough the cat gets in the house so I go after him. I tell him, if you want to let the cat in, you are responsible for taking the cat out.
I know these are TINY things, and SS is only 5 but it is the fact that he DOES NOT LISTEN and LIES every chance he gets. Sometimes I just look at him and think, well if this isn't the poster boy for birth control, I don't know what is!

It is an indoor/outdoor
It is an indoor/outdoor patio, I have my washer and dryer out there and they are covered on the top and from behind (the wall and door that attach to the kitchen) but then opens into a little garden. It is fenced and he has a little house out there (under the ceiling) along w blankets toys and his food and water, but yeah THAT was the point of my post.
