Summer is coming...brace yourselves for the arrival of seasonal skids.

I'm hoping painthands will post her boozy slush recipe here for us (hint, hint) because I've heard amazing things about it!

Anyone else got a favorite recipe they like to use to help cope?

I don't get fancy, I just drink a lot of "soda" all summer. Yeah, about half booze half soda and I don't put it down so nobody can sniff it }:)

Sometimes I just drink it right from the bottle.

Tropical fruity frozen drink

You will need a blender that can seriously crush ice
2 mangos, not hard but ever so slightly gives way when squeezed
1 Pineapple
1 solo papaya (not the big one, they are little and cute and yummy) OPTIONAL
1 Lime cut into wedges for garnish (optional)
Cuvero mango margarita mix or Strawberry (which ever floats your eyeballs)
Mighty Mango juice (optional)
Welches Passion fruit juice (optional)
Pineapple juice (optional)

Chop up fruit
Fill blender with ice
Fill just under half way with Tequila or rum. I will use Cuvero or patron or I use Parrot Bay 90 proof coconut rum AND Passion fruit rum.
Add 2 or 3 chucks each of fresh fruit (you can use frozen but fresh is better)
Fill to just cover ice with drink mix
Add equal parts of the juices you selected
Blend, garnish and enjoy

Well, I don't have skids coming over for summer...ever, probably. But I still have a recipe I like to make in the summer that people seem to enjoy.

It is a type of lemon bar made with lemonade concentrate.

Ingredients:
graham cracker crust
1 stick salted butter, melted, plus extra for greasing pan
1 tablespoon sugar
20 graham cracker squares, crushed

Filling
2 8 oz bricks of cream cheese, room temperature
2 14 oz cans sweetened, condensed milk
1 12 oz can lemonade concentrate, thawed
1 8 oz tub whipped topping, thawed

Directions:
Crust
Preheat oven to 350 deg
Generously grease a 13x9 pan
Combine cracker crumbs, sugar and melted butter until mixture is mealy.
Press into the bottom of the pan in an even layer
Bake for 10 minutes, until golden brown
Cool and set aside.

filling
Combine the cream cheese, sweetened condensed milk and lemonade concentrate until smooth. Electric mixer is easiest.
Fold in the whipped topping carefully until well combined.
Pour the filling on top of the cooled pie crust and smooth out.
Freeze for about 2 hours, or until set.
Slice into squares and enjoy!

There's a micro brewery in Copper Harbor that makes VERY tasty porter and stout. Biggrin

LaBatt Blue from Canada. Mmmmmmm. Good tasting and stronger than the American beer.

Blender recommendation..
I bought a bottom of the line Ninja blender at Wal-Mart 3 years ago. Most stores have them for about $40. Crushes ice like a champ and doesn't leave you with a ton of water or big chunks.

I make a VERY similar recipe, but with whiskey. The boiling water is a single cup in which you steep 4 tea bags (I use blackberry sage). No sugar, and I add more whiskey. Wink

I'm going to be trying every single one of these! Smile

I occasionally stick nips in my sock drawer with the chocolate. My favorites are the candy bar vodkas,,,that way if I smell like candy I can "confess" to eating a candy bar I bought on my way home from work Wink

I know this link looks hellacious, but it is different wine drinkies. I, myself, cannot drink wine (heartburn). I do adore a frosty Dos Equis Ambar or a nice Hoegaarden with a twist of orange, or a plain old Budweiser....all in the bottle, TYVM. I am more of a hard liquor girl. Fireball, Bacardi, or a cheap ass flavored vodka. Only pay the big bucks for vodka flavored vodka. Love me some Pinnacle Cinnabon. Yummmmm. I take my hard liquor, and put it over crushed ice that has been quickly buzzed through my Ninja blender....I make enough snow for all of the kiddos and my AA DH to have a nice snow cone, and I spike mine with a lil somethin' somethin' after DH has gone to his meetings. He knows I drink, but I do not do it when he is home, and I do not get wasted. It helps that SD is no longer in our home. I also do not kiss him near the mouth when I do drink.

Well, since we are talking about drinks mainly, I love to mix Mt. Dew with Amaretto. If you do it right, it tastes like root beer or Dr. Pepper.

I also like the Orange Pushup drink:

OJ
Amaretto
splash of half and half
over ice if you like

Tuff Noogies's picture

vodka tonic w/ plenty of lime.

crown and dr pepper.

vodka and chocolate milk.

but my go-to is just plain ol' cheap beer. cant afford the expensive, tastier shit, but at least it goes down ice cold and smooth.

8:48 here and yup, i could join you aniki!!!
