I have lots of close friends who have Celiac Disease.
Its hard, but when you get sick from eating the gluten you start to make better choices.
Get online, Google, Bing, Yahoo, whatever search engine you use and learn more about gluten free foods AND products. There is a growing number of consumers products and food that is becoming gluten free.
Good Luck

Try shopping at an organic store there are a lot of gluten free choices there and there are breads as well! I am sorry that you have Crohns my niece has had it for about 6 years as well. There are gluten free tortilla chips that I get (I like them I think they are way better than normal ones)I think they are called Blue Mountain gringo or something like that but if you like it make some fresh guacamole (i think its gluten free as long as you dont add bad stuff to it) and it is really good. I myself have a colon disorder so I know when you start changing what you eat it literally is a pain in the ass, but after getting used to some of the foods it is much better. I havent gone gluten free however, I have gone more organic and it has worked wonders for me. Good luck and I hope you feel better, I will ask my neice about some foods and what not to see if she does the same thing, I hope it helps.

Go look through this site: http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/

This woman swore (in 2008) to cook in her crockpot every single day for a year. She got a book deal out of it. The interesting thing is, her daughters have celiac, so EVERY SINGLE RECIPE she has is gluten-free.

A good gluten free peanut butter cookie recipe is

1 c. peanut butter (all natural, only peanuts oil and salt in ingredient list)
1 c. sugar
1 egg.

Bake at 350 until done (10-15 mins)

Look for Udi's bread in the freezer section - it's gluten/dairy/soy free. They also make gluten free frozen pizza crusts. For pasta - you should be able to find brands made from brown rice instead of wheat. Van's makes good gluten free waffles. These are items that I can find in my regular grocery store.

I also shop a lot at Whole Foods and they have lots of GF options. Check the internet and you will find lots of great GF recipes.

Good luck! My son went gluten/dairy free this year and it's been a great (yet difficult) change for our family.
