Ahhh....sweet harmony:) DH and I are in the middle of our amicable divorce, he is moving out, but finishing up some work around my house for me over the next couple weeks. I swear we get along better now as friends (with occasional benefits) then ever before. I am not mad at him anymore, don't feel desperate to make things work. It's not going to work, we are going to stay friends, and I am moving on.

Anyways, I have been trying to help my SD17 get into college since I met my DH two years ago. Her BM is a lazy, uneducated, cheap moron and when I met SD, she wanted to go to massage school (sigh). I kept talking to her, took her on a trip to visit a college on the other side of the state for several days, and showed her how to get school loans. I was also fully prepared months ago to take her on a pre-college vacation to Mexico and then rent a moving van and drive her 400 miles up to college this summer....even if DH couldn't go and with a 3 year old in tow. That was before she flipped out on me and DH, saying that only BM will never give up on her, that she never wants to see my two faces again, and so on. She wouldn't talk to either of us and said she'd never come over again.

Hmmmmm...seems like thats changing now that she is facing college in three months 400 miles from home, BM won't give her a cent, she has almost no money, and refused to take my advice to get a school loan (other than to actually pay tuition) based on BM's advice (who has never lived on her own or gone to school). To top it off, it sounds like BM isn't planning to even help her drive up to school, although she did tell her that she wants her to take a bunch of old household furnishings with her because BM is about to get kicked out of her home (that happens when you stop paying the mortgage and won't work full time) and doesn't want to move them. DH bought SD an older jeep cherokee that does need some work, which I offered to finance a year ago, and BM refused to allow it. Saying that she wouldn't be "beholden" to me and that she'd finance them - which she didn't finish doing. Now SD17 has no reliable car to even tow her things to college and we've heard nothing but non-stop bitching and moaning about the car from her and BM. Of course, BM is too busy banging every nasty guy on her fall down the whore tree so she'll probably just let SD17 try to drive 400 miles alone in the car. Nice right? DH was really upset by all of this - he can't help SD17 either because he is facing jail for a DUI. Guess I wasn't that bad after all hmmmm? Oh well - like I keep saying "NOT MY PROBLEM ANYMORE". Chalk this up as a huge lesson in who to trust and rely on SD17.
