CNN interview adult daughter
Forums:
Just an interesting observation this morning. A couple married 11 years were killed in that church shooting. Clearly a second marriage and CNN interviewed the adult daughter of the husband along with his sister. CNN mentioned the wife and had couple pictures but the daughter never mentioned one word about her stepmother. Not a word! We are a maligned lot, stepmothers. Do you guys think that was odd?
I think its standard. Plus
I think its standard.
Plus depending on the age of the daughter she may not have had any sort of relationship with her stepmother.
We've been given a tiny window into someone's life. Maybe daughter didn't spend much time in her father's home. Maybe she didn't get alone with her stepmother.
The news mentioned the wife but might not of had much else to say. Maybe all of her family lives elsewhere.
I don't know. I agree we do stigmatize and downplay step parents in general but this is a case where we don't have all the evidence.
Interview under Texas Church
Interview under Texas Church Victims [online CNN]:
"Richard and Theresa Rodriguez had been married for 11 years, and were longtime members of the church, according to Richard's daughter Regina. She said her dad and stepmom were active in the church.
"If they weren't at church, they were always in their yard working on their garden beds or cutting the grass," Regina said.
"He loved music. My favorite memories was waking up on a Saturday morning and watching 'Soul Train' with him, and '80s movies."
Regina said her dad and stepmother sometimes would take her children for the weekend and take them to church on Sundays. The children were not with them on the day of the shooting.
She said her father was "country," and her oldest son liked to wear the same style of pants, boots and hats as his grandfather.
"The oldest ones, they're the ones that are taking it hard," she said. "Especially my Justin -- he really looked up to my dad ... just waiting for my dad to pull up when he would come on the weekends."

And a short clip of when the daughter (who could barely speak) sent a message to our President:

I think if you are going to bring this up as a topic the full disclosure as to the interviews from this grieving daughter/adult SD should be available.
Pretty harsh to judge this grieving family right now, IMO
So this contradicts the whole
So this contradicts the whole original post then?
Thank you for taking the time to find this and share it.
26 people are gone, their
26 people are gone, their lives scattered to the wind like they didn't matter or mean anything. 26 people whose families are trying to come to grips with a new reality they never though they would have to understand or face. I don't know if I would be trying to make this a SM issue at this point.
WTH??? Are you using this
WTH??? Are you using this tragedy to show how victimized sm's are? Aren't you a little misguided? Pretty pathetic.
I think it be lovely for this
I think it be lovely for this post to be completely taken down. It’s inappropriate.
Agree! ADMIN/DAWN - can you
Agree!
ADMIN/DAWN - can you please remove this incredibly insensitive and offensive post??
I do agree it is an
I do agree it is an inappropriate post, but also I actually think the SM was well spoken of in the above interview. The adult SD mentioned, ". . . her dad and stepmom were active in the church." And, "If they weren't at church, they were always in their yard working on their garden beds or cutting the grass." And, ". . . her dad and stepmother sometimes would take her children for the weekend and take them to church on Sundays." If that was the way my SKs remembered/spoke of me, I'd feel blessed, personally.
ETA: Pls. ignore my tagline for this one.
Probably different reporting
Probably different reporting on different venues.
It is normal ..... I see
It is normal ..... I see nothing wrong with it, she was not the daughters mother, and the daughter was not being nasty or anything, the daughter just lost her father.... a birth parent.
I would not haunt Aergia if she never talks about me when I pass this life, but Deigma better be sad and say something nice about me or I will haunt him till the end
One of my former coworkers
One of my former coworkers ran into Hillary Clinton after the election while she was hiking near her home. She took a poic, posted it on FB and went viral.
It to this day has lingering effects, she was threatened, harassed, her baby was threatened it was terrible.
I say count your blessings. After seeing what she went through I would prefer to never be on TV or anything of the sort.
I don’t even have anything to
I don’t even have anything to say to this. I agree with others that this thread needs to go. It’s inaccurate and insensitive towards victims and their families.
