DH, having developed a backbone a couple of weeks ago, is developing a new relationship with his hateful spawn! 

He realized that he was nothing more than an ATM for his precious daughter. He cut her off and quit making any effort to contact her. 

Last week, she called him just to say hello! OMG! That's never happened before! Yesterday, she called to invite him to her house for lunch today. I'm assuming there were no strings attached since DH hasn't returned to tell me otherwise. 

I'm happy that things are looking up for DH. He was so sad when the reality of what he meant to his child came crashing home. However, my suspicious nature wonders if this is all a setup for the future, but in this moment, I'll be happy for him.
