articles for fathers...
I have been looking for articles that reference fathers and how to handle a new wife as a stepmother, but that isnt all about the kids. Does anyone have any links to something like that?

how do I explain to my DH in non-confrontational terms that I want our "kid-free" weekends
Dont get me wrong, I love when the kids are there. But I have none of my own just yet-so EOW we don't have them. I enjoy the quiet house, doing things we can't do with them, etc. We have ended up having them at least one night every weekend for the last 4. Once again, tomorrow has been "planned" with the kids. Its supposed to be an off weekend. I really never thought I would make a blog like this, but since we are trying to get pregnant, I realize that I need all the alone time I can before there are no "off" weekends.
Why is it that DH has to ask to get the kids?
Another post made me think of this, and its bothered me for some time now. When DH is supposed to get the kids, he always has to text and ask when he can get them... of late he has just been texting "I will be there at such and such time to get them" But when it comes downt to it, he has to wait for her to okay it.
Now, you have to understand that until they went to court and finalized everything-DH had the kids all the time...BM got them, but it wasn't near how often now. She also gets CS now, and that makes a big difference in how often she keeps them.

beneficiaies
Ok, I don't want to start a fight before I have more info. Hoping you all have some insight. My DH and I have had discussions about beneficiaries, and how he has Skids as his. Of course, this PISSES me off. I am his wife and should be the beneficiary to all of his benefits. My thoughts on it are this:
If the kids get it before 18-will BM get her hands on it? Or will it be in a trust for them?

Sometimes it doesn't bother me, but today it's under my skin!!
So we have a couple of re-occuring issues with BM. Honestly, for the most part we all get along, although DH and I strongly disagree with BMs parenting style.
Here are the things that are driving me crazy..
So scared of the teen years...
well, I can say that right now, life with skids is good. It def has its moments that I wonder what the heck I was thinking. But those are few and far between. SD9 and SS6 are great kids. I love them so much!
My fear though, is reading some of the posts from people that talk about the teens. SD9 is already acting like she is 13. I don't remember being anywhere near the way she is at 9. And I remember trying my parents hard!!

Am I being selfish?
ok, here is a little background.. I have 2 skids, SD9 and SS6. They are great kids, I love them very much. We get them EOW and 2-3 nights a week. I have none of my own although we are trying. Here in the last month or two I have been going through some sort of "mid-life crisis" I have been wanting to go out, have drinks with friends... just be out and about!! I actually would like my DH to join me at this, but he doesn't really like to go out that much. I must also add that he is on call 24/7 for work, so drinking is normally not an option for him most of the time.

car riding... ??
ok, I know there will be a lot of differences on this, but I want to know..
I do not allow skids to ride in the front seat...they are 9 and 5. There are safety signs in the car stating children under the age of 13 should not due to the air bag. I figure, there is plenty of room in the back and no real good reason to allow them up front. So I feel that I put thier safety first by not allowing front seat riding.
I see sooooo many parents letting their children ride in the front seat.. what gives? Do the statistics not count for anything??? Do the warnings not matter??

wondering how others handle this...
the issue with clothes. We are forever having issues with clothes for SS and SD. Not so much for SD these days as she is older and can keep up with her own clothes better.

Am I being silly?
I am supposed to run a 5k on Thursday, a Drumstick dash. Its my first race, and I am pretty excited that I am doing it. Well...I have been getting vibes and comments for a while now(planned this month ago) about not being at his family's early for breakfast that morning. We usually do that every year, and I enjoy it, bu the timing of the run just doesn't allow it. So I asked today if he intended on coming, his response.."guess I can... we got invited for breakfast thurs morning" and,to translate... I don't want to I want to go to breakfast, and you should skip the run and go too.
