I just don't even know how I feel

This is more a vent than anything else, I need to get it off my chest. Backstory... SD17 is pregnant. Her BF (23) is awful - he's never been very good to her, he's controlling and is systematically isolating her from her family, and although he hasn't hit her (to my knowledge) he has at least one prior domestic assault charge from hitting a previous girlfriend. She "loves" him though, so she's allowing this to continue.

Weddings = Drama

SD22's wedding was on Saturday. The wedding itself was fine - the weather was nice (it was outdoors), my bios (2 year old twins and 5 year old DS, the SDs' half-siblings) were about as well-behaved as I could expect and actually walked down the aisle as ring-bearers and flower-girl, and everyone showed up.

Do I really have to go to this wedding?

SD23's wedding is this weekend. For a fucking year and a half, she's been trying to get DH and I to help pay for it. We've told her repeatedly that we cannot afford it, and that she needed to scale back. (She's invited over TWO HUNDRED PEOPLE.) Her mother told her that she would help pay for it with her tax refund. Of course, her mother then went on vacation with her stepfather instead and blew all the money she promised SD. No surprise.

I received an email from SD23 yesterday. It reads:

Hey when u and dad has time can u call me I have something important to tell u

(That is verbatim, obviously.) I'm thinking, "Pregnancy? Something about her wedding? A death in the family?"

Betcha can't guess. Go on, guess. Know what was so important?

Totally stole that from DtzyBlnd's blog. Smile (Just to give credit where credit is due!)

My DH is a sociable guy. He can talk to anyone, and he keeps friends forever. (His best friend is a guy he's been best friends with since he was 6.) So he sometimes gets Facebook friend requests from people from high school, middle school, even grade school. All fine as far as it goes.

Redneck Bridal Shower from hell

My SD23 is getting married in a few weeks. Her mom threw her a "bridal shower".

This "bridal shower" was in a local park. BM had the option to get a key to the bathroom, but didn't want to spend the money. So, no bathroom. She made it a pot luck, so the guests had to bring food and drink. She told my DH that he had to provide plates and silverware for 120 people. (Yep, didn't ask - TOLD.) And the pièce de résistance? She said it was a "greenback shower" and told everyone to bring money, no gifts!
