FSD7 got her ears pierced over the summer and was super excited to change her earrings when she was all healed. I bought her a lovely pair of earrings with her birthstone for Christmas but she has been reluctant to remove her starter earrings. Nervous it's going to hurt, etc. Tonight she came into our bedroom with the earrings and said that she really wanted to wear them but that she was scared to take out her other earrings. I asked her if she wanted me to help. She said "NO!!! I'll do it."

I sat and watched her struggle and she was getting very frustrated. I finally asked her again if she would let me help. She said ok. I had to work a little bit to make sure that I didn't hurt her.... The backs were on really tight! All I kept thinking was "she must really trust me". I remember struggling with earrings when I was a kid and I would only allow my mother to touch me.

We finally got the old earrings out and the new earrings in. She's thrilled!

When I was kissing her goodnight she asked me if I knew what she loves the most about living is this house. I asked her what. She said, "that you live here with us". Geez, kid..... A little warning next time before you warm my heart to the point of spontaneous combustion!!
