After WW3 whereby I show no confidence in DH ability to follow up and follow through with Zippy and the argument ensued-truce was called and YESTERDAY-almost made me seek out medication!

DH comes into the kitchen to "clear the air about a few things".

Seems there is a bone of contention re Zippy16.5's bedtime-his summer hours are 11pm Mon-Fri-and midnight on weekends. Zippy's schedule since school has been out is WHEN he is not working a grueling 4 hr shift at the burger joint-Zippy crawls out of bed at 2pm-eats bowl after bowl of food on the living room sofa-crawls off the living room sofa and video games his brains out until bedtime.

DH PURPOSES THAT ZIPPY'S BEDTIME BE EXTENDED UNTIL MIDNIGHT EVERY NIGHT DURING THE SUMMER!

Me: :O

It took all I had not to bean DH with the BBQ implements in my hand (wish I had a shovel nearby was what I was really thinking!)

How can such a capable man turn into a MORON when it comes to his kid? Maybe DH was dropped at birth?

I say in my most calming tone (as I am constantly accused of hurtful sarcasm)-

"Boy-this sure sounds like rewarding Zippy16.5 for almost losing job number two on Sunday for sleeping in on his shift?"

DH with nervous laughter

"He He He -sure does eh?-well I was thinking (I'm thinking "this is thinking?")-all of Zippy's friends get to stay up later (sound familiar yet?)-and he is almost 17, it is summer...blah blah blah..

Me: "Ok DH-but I know Art and Leroy have had steady partime jobs for over a year now, are on the second stage of their drivers license, and have 75% averages in school-what does Zippy have? Barely passing high school, no interest in driving and cannot hold a job, can barely get out of bed in the morning let alone walk and chew gum at the same time-GEE HONEY, LETS REWARD THAT!

DH's logic:

"Well-Endora, maybe if we hold Zippy16.5 to a higher bar he may live up to it".

So with the new bedtime that is now in effect I am keeping a diary-

Night one-I go to bed after the news and comfortably reading and dozing when I hear the booming voice of DH (who looks like Jim Belushi-so you know he can boom!)

"Zippy-GET TO BED-FIRST NIGHT OF THE NEW TIMES -ROAR ROAR ROAR ROAR ROAR ROAR-

Me to myself -"In the words of Dr. Phil- Well DH-"Hows That Workin For YA?
