OT Need Graduation Dinner Advice

FML's picture

I am graduating from college this Friday. I invited family to come see me. I have some family that are coming from out of state. I had planned on doing something at my house but it's kind of out of the way. The family that lives closer talked and decided that we should all go out to eat afterwards. I said that it was fine and chose a place that was convenient for people out of state going home and those living here. My FMIL states that I should pay for everyone and it would be rude not to. We are looking at probably 20 people and it would be 250-300 dollars.

I was reading the post about the dinner mints. .....

You know it's kind of strange. My FDH and I have to opposite problem. He "favors" my DD and I "favor" my SS (his son).

First of all to me, my daughter is older and I expect a lot more out of her. She has more stability and should act like it. I feel like SS is younger and hardly ever here. FDH works offshore. It is so hard to break bad habits in just a few days and sometimes FDH takes it overboard with his son. This has left me taking over discipline with SS.

Making plans....Breaking Plans.... Just plan rudeness

SIL lives in the next state over. We don't get to see her much and my DD8 loves to play with her DD8. They're 3 days apart and close. She comes into town and we make plans. I'm cooking a big ol' lunch and inviting SIL and MIL. I also got my DD8 from her dad's early today so that she could spend some extra time. So, I spent all morning cooking and cleaning. Their arrival time comes and goes......no family. WTH? So I call....Is everything ok? Oh yeah... we just decided to go to the next town over and get lunch and go shopping. We will be by later.......

Wedding Etiquette

FML's picture

There is something that I was wondering. There is nothing in particular going on. Just a thought. What is the wedding etiquette for bridesmaids and groomsmen who are married? Is it appropriate for them to walk down the aisle with someone else? I know there's situations where the bride doesn't know the wife or the groom doesn't know the husband. What about the wedding party table? If the wife or husband accompanies their spouse as a date, is the spouse left alone? What if he or she doesn't know anyone else? I was just kind of curious about this.

Ex-Husband and Child Support

FML's picture

Last week, I received a notice from child support enforcement that said I have a meeting at so and so date and time to discuss a matter that is under investigation. The state that I live in has been pushing for child support to be deducted from NCP's paycheck no matter what the terms. I do not agree with this. My EX and I have worked things out for 3 plus years now and it works for us. I do not want to hand this over to their office because they are horrible about being late with payments, losing payments, etc.

Issac Update

Wow! That was the most insane hurricane ever. We did get by ok. We didn't swim but it got darn close. The tornadoes were horrible. I didn't think that it was going to be as bad as it was. We went through Katrina in a different part of town. My daughter was one and we swam and spent the day on the roof. It was insane. I have been through many of category 1 2 and 3 hurricanes and never had this happen. Thanks everyone for the prayers! It seemed to help. After days of pounding I'm glad it's over.

Issac

Ladies,
I am scared and embarrassed. I did not expect Issac to get this bad. My grandmother also became ill and could not evacuate so I stayed behind. I have a sinking feeling that I may be swimming soon. I went through this with Katrina and I should have really known better. Please pray for me. I am terrified. I feel blessed that I still have electricity right now and wanted to ask for some support.
