Again??
Surely not?! Checked the bank and unless SS 19's gas ($1.00 amount shows first and the balance is reflected later) was less than $5 he's in trouble. I know it takes time for DH to get to a pissed off point with the boy but I am taking the card this time around! DH took it from him and GAVE IT BACK?? I hate having to watch stuff like that, if I do not then we rack up charges and DH doesn't check it unless he gets a push on his phone that reflects a charge that will put the balance in the red

I'm not too sure from your post, but is SS on Your debit card?why? He's 19. Doesn't he have a job?
If you have to give him a card, why not a prepaid one? That way, he can't overspend.
It's a card attached to our
It's a card attached to our account that SS was using for college. It's not supposed to let him overspend but the gas stations make a $1 charge and then process the actual amount...it is wide open for abuse and really bad business practice in my opinion. I would NOT let someone take the whole purchase, charge them one dollar and just hope I can get the rest? SS abuses it, I bet lots of other folks do too!
It's the cavalier way it's done, with no respect or regard for DH...less for me!
At 19, I was managing my own
At 19, I was managing my own bank account independently and my parents had zero access to it. It only took one time of overdrawing to understand how it worked. Do you just have his login, or are you/DH actually joint account holders? At 19, I'd be telling him to get his own damn account. Then, if he overdraws, its not your problem and he'll have to bail himself out.
OMG...who pays for a 19 year
OMG...who pays for a 19 year olds gas?!! Oh thats right...BM did. LOL
Why does DH pay for a grown mans gas? My son is 19 and works full time and goes to college full time. He would NEVER think that I would/should pay for his gas. But I am also raising him to be a MAN. Does not sound like that is what your DH is doing. yuk
Yes indeed! If you cannot
Yes indeed! If you cannot afford a vehicle then what's he doing with one? He also does not pay insurance or cell bill!!
DH is a pacifist, as long as I do not go without anything I'd not complain but when it comes to racking up charges on an account I draw the line! I disengaged, see, none of my business, DH needs to wake up though!
$45 was the final purchase
$45 was the final purchase price of the gas? That had better last him until he gets paid on Friday. He's working, full time, gets a paycheck every two weeks and is paid $15 an hour...
I do not know what he does with his money but he's getting real old with this running the school account over. DH needs to keep the card this time, last time he gave it back to him to get as on Thanksgiving, to visit grandma with us. That gives rise to a scary thought too! Grandma got them all baby bonds and the boy asked for his recently...I hope he's not just sucking up to Grandma for those again??
It is much easier for me to see what's going on, from the outside looking in, and I get that DH is doing chemo right now, for another couple of months, and it sickens me that the boy can do this to his dad. I feel terrible mentioning it, keeping track of it etc. because it looks like I am interfering but I cannot just sit back and let charges rack up on the account.
