Ot- a man died yesterday

So.. i started a new job. My 3rd day on the job, i hear a page yelling 911 everyone to the floor. Went out there and a man was face first on the ground blood was everywhere. I thought he just passed out.

A customer was attending to him and i asked if there was any thing i could do, i got dowb close to his face and it seemed like he was breathing because blood was popping out of his mouth.

Theb he turned purple. I helped the woman and the store manager flip him over so another enployee who was cpr certified could do cpr. The emts came abd did the 20 min try to bring him back but he died.

The woman who was with him came in during it and was just like yeah i am with him. When the paramedics got there she started to talk to them abd i yelled hello he isnt breathing because she was stopping the guy from running in there.

I left soon after that and the store was closed for the day. I heard later from the manager that the woman didnt ride with him abd said she would get to the hospital whenever she gets there.

I dobt know the guy,or his name but jesus, he was with strangers for his last moments. The manager i spoke to last night stated the medics told her he was probably dead before we even tried cpr and that what i took for breathing could have been just air especasing his lungs.

I saw the camera footage and you see the man come out of the bathroom and he is looking at his phone and then he grabs his chest and just falls flat on his face.

I also snapped into manager mode which i swore i wouldnt do here and ordered the cashier to get back to her register and ring the people out who were waiting.

Its just so crazy how quick someone goes.rip to whoever that man was.

I hate to say it, but I wonder if it was drug related. And I only say that because of the way that the woman who was with him acted.

That has to be tough. It's those moments when you realize how short life can be and how easily it can be taken.
I have a similar story, although not as fateful, from my days at managing a restaurant. I was the only manager on the floor; every other manager had a company outing, so me being at the bottom of the totem pole, I had to stay behind. Anyway, I'm working the line when a cook turns me around to the floor and I see someone having a seizure. Like you, I snapped into manager mode, ordered the hostess to call 911, I cordoned off the area and assured all the guests around that things would be okay, and I would personally see to taking care of their needs. Made all the employees go about their business as the EMTs and FFs came... it was almost mechanical. Interesting side note: as everyone is finishing up (she turned out to be okay), EVERY SINGLE MANAGER walked into the store and saw what had happened. I thought I was screwed, but it turns out I did everything right.

Sorry for the derail, but your story made me think of that.

Talked to a coworker today who is actually the mans neighbor. He had a massive heart attack and was dead before he hit the floor. Poor guys face was split open because he hit so hard, the blood not pouring out should have been a clue thst his heart was not pumping anymore when i checked. i guess. so crazy that the body can appear to still be trying to take breaths when you are actually dead. Its call like ag-something breathing.

Apparently he was at the hospital with the woman because something was wrong with her. She stated she tried to get him to be seen because he had been having pains for 2 days in his chest. He refused. They went to chikfila for lunch then went to the dollar tree and then into my store where he died.

Some employees were pretty upset today. Coperate has counciling coming ti the location tomorrow to talk to people.

I honestly thought drugs too at first. Sad that that is the reality we live in that we think drugs. The way his eyes looked i thought seizure because of an od.

It has not really upset me, ive just been thinking harder about how a day so normal just can be your last. And how today was a pretty regulsr day at work too even though just yesterday he died there. They had a company come in over night to clean the blood.
