"Do you believe in Ghosts mom?"sd15 says to me... Thousands of things rushed through my mind at this time. here we go lets see the next episode of give me some attention.

"oh, well i've been watching ghost hunters and I believe in them and it has been giving me nightmares. i see ghosts Mom."
"Well sd it sounds like you have been watching too much tv at grandmas house, i would really like you think about my house my rules phrase i say all the time. becusae you use to watch teen pregnancy show so much you thought you were pregnant. or that aliens were real from alien movies. Untill you get a grip on reality maybe you shouldn't watch tv. next thing i know you will be thinking Mickey Mouse is real"
"Yeah mom becuase hes a giant mouse. those really exist."
"finish your supper please."
dh gets home
"daddy i love you."
"i love you too"
"daddy im having nightmares about ghosts. i think papa is messing with me."
dh walks off
sd15 bawls
"what did I say mommy. I just wanted to tell him about it"
"sd why did you go right into it. why didn't you tell him they way you told me. why did you bring papa into it"
"i just want to talk about papa. i swear he is messing with me."
so i seriously don't know if this kid has mental issues like that or if she is manipulating. Dh feels shes manipulating him and doing it in a harmful way to hurt him. its been almost a year since papa has died, my husband is just...JUST....pulling himself out of the whole he was in. hes got a job...starting to take care of me and the boys again. i think sd15 wants him back on her level... i feel wrong....

This all sounds like drama and attention seeking to me. It sounds like your dh has had his fill of it.

I would tell her that spirits
I would tell her that spirits do not mess with people. They are only there for good and encourage some critical thinking... Do you think they would make lots of TV shows about nothing? A dark house where floor boards squeak because the temperature changes. Like ice cracking in a glass. I would use it as a teaching moment and say "Well, what else could it be?"
It sounds like she has no idea how to operate on her own. How to use her God given mind to make up her own mind.
Now I never believed in spirits until some very strange experiences that are unexplainable. However the child needs a healthy hobby. Give her a tomato plant and tell her speaking to plants makes them grow faster and bigger. It should occupy her until October.

Sounds like my SD13, living in a fantasy world with too much screen time. She is very juvenile and disrespectful as well. I don't think she means to be disrespectful but she's just so damn naive she doesn't know any better. DH never set boundaries for her. Then I correct her and she goes into shock and thinks I hate her. So much drama!
