Checking In
DD30 starts her new job on Monday. She's been making the most of her last week of joblessness.
I had a nice 4-day weekend and went on a road trip with a good friend. We just meandered down to North Carolina to go to a brewery with a naughty name in honor of my dear friend who died 2 years ago in December. Said friend's birthday is this coming Sunday, so she's on my mind.
We had such a blast.
It's been almost 7 weeks since the breakup with zero communication. I also stopped looking at XBF's dating profile nearly a month ago (tomorrow).
He was always "Mr. I don't use Facebook" but he's been a little more active on it lately. It's a bit unnerving since I'm pretty active on Facebook with my various cycling groups where he is also a member. I don't plan on being less present but I am contemplating blocking him. I don't like it when exes use social media to try to make a previous partner jealous. I want to be able to continue my presence on social media like I always have. I also don't like him having a window into my life while lurking on FB.
Most of the time I'm in a great headspace. I'm grateful for that.
Next weekend, my current BFF and I are going up to Philly for the weekend. We're going to a bike event. She's never been to Philly, so I will be taking her to all of my favorite places.
With the time change and spring approaching, my calendar is in full swing. I don't think I have a free weekend until July!! LOL
I'm also busy with my meetup group attending trivia nights. Nearly every week we are placing in the top 3 and winning prizes. I also have a really cute new guy friend. Just friends, folks. I think he's separated. He has 2 sons: 10 and 13. Oh, did I mention he's about 9 years younger than me? LOL JUST friends, but there is a nice connection. It's fun to be friends with boys. LMAO He's started texting me - usually just related to trivia, but we had a nice text chat the other night. I look forward to counting more "boys" as friends. Not having the stress of a relationship and romantic feelings is nice.
Since I last posted, I've signed up for a local group that does trail maintenance for the Appalachian Trail. I've setup a couple bikepacking trips with my friends. A friend also added me a local singles Facebook page - meh. Not really interested, but it's fun watching the others interact. I also just signed up to be an election judge this fall. I'll use my "paycheck" to buy myself an Apple Watch. Woohoo!
It's good. It's all good. Going back and reading my posts here from last year and earlier this year are really helping to remind me why I walked away, and how that was a good decision. And I'm thrilled that I was right: I am a blessed woman to have wonderful friends and family. I'm never lacking things to do or people to do them with.
Happy Wednesday!

Great!
Now, that's the kind of update I just love! Congratulations on taking your life back!
Thank you. It's not perfect
Thank you. It's not perfect but it's a helluva lot better spending my time with people who CHOOSE me and aren't lukewarm about my place in their lives.
What exactly is there about him to be jealous of?
He can polish the turd that he is all over FB and social media. He is still shit. As nothing more than a polished turd there isn't anything about him to be jealous of. Stop that.
If anything, it is little more than a trainwreck unfolding in slow motion as he tries to recruit his next partner victim.
As for events. If you are near Philly, my DW used to do a professional/social networking event series in the Philly Metro area, mostly focused in Wilmington DE. It was called Wine Down Wednesdays. They would do food and wine events with an activity. A play, museum, etc.... A winery or country of origin wine focus was part of it. Not sure if they still have the series. It has been a while. If they do, it is worth looking into.
My other house is about 2
My other house is about 2 hours from Philly. We're only going up for 2 full days and with the bike show, the typical touristy stuff (Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell), a trip to an Irish Pub, the art museum and Eastern State Penitentiary, our itinerary is full. Oh, also add "The Cheesesteak Challenge." I'm going to take her to my two favorite places so she can compare and rank them. No Pat's or Gino's - tourist garbage.
If I'm ever there for a stretch, I might look into that group. Thanks for the tip!
I agree on the Cheesesteaks.
I agree on the Cheesesteaks. My favorite is Italian Kitchen in Pennsville, NJ over the Del Mem Bridge from Wilmington.
Another kool place if you are up for a notable chili dog is The Dog House in Newcastle DE.
We lived in Glen Mills PA for 4yrs and in Middletown DE for 2yrs. We were all over the Mid Atlantic region and enjoyed it. Particularly the DelMarVa penninsula. If you are looking for a couple of good crab places, Sambos Tavern in Leipsic, DE and Suicide Bridge in Secretary, MD are outstanding.
Thank you!!
Thank you!!
re:crabcakes...I've lived in MD most of my life. I know where the best crabcakes are.
I'm not a crabcake guy. Too
I'm not a crabcake guy. Too sweet for my tastes. I am a blue crap guy though. That is what I tend to eat at Sambos and Suicide Bridge.
I have no doubt you have the MD restaurants wired. There are so many great places all over DelMarVa.
I do miss Punkin Chunkin. We went every year we lived in DE/PA. Another festival we enjoyed is Apple Scrapple. Supposedly they are going to hold it in OK.
Have you been to Falling Water and the other Frnak Lloyd Wright houses near your neck of the woods? Another spot worth a weekend is Hawk Mountain during the raptor migration. It is incredible and beautiful.
You have me missing it all.
I have been to Falling Water
I have been to Falling Water in Ohiopyle, PA. When I lived with XBF, I was about an hour south of Falling Water. It's a pretty part of the country. I've never been to Hawk Mountain. I've been punkin chunkin once - just a pumpkin cannon. I've heard there's a big event on the Eastern Shore of Maryland/Delaware for punkin chunkin. Never been to the Apple Scrapple festival, either. I gave up on scrapple as a child when I found out what it contained (brains). I am not sure if scrapple still has brains, but I'm good. LOL
The best Maryland crabcakes are G&M near BWI airport or the Edgewater Inn..................or my own. I have made some wonderful crabcakes at home with lump crab from Costco. Some people trash G&Ms because they don't use just local blue crabmeat. It wouldn't really be possible with the number of crabcakes they make (and ship) each year.
I now live in the central part of Maryland, very close to the Appalachian Trail, and still have my house near Baltimore.
I agree on Scrapple. I stick
I agree on Scrapple. I stick to the Apple part of the festival.
Great News
Happy to hear you have your life back. It is full and fulfilling!! Congrats!
If I may suggest one thing....go ahead and block your ex. No need to leave that door open.
Happy Wednesday! Good to hear
