Christmas Day Revelation

la_dulce_vida's picture

Yesterday, as I sat in the living room of my nearly 100 year old house (built in 1925) with my pretty little live tree, my dining room table decked out with greens and glass ornaments hanging from the light fixture, the TV playing a video of a crackling fire and Christmas music quietly playing in the background while delicious smells wafted from the kitchen, I looked around me at the faces of my two sons, their father and his girlfriend, and the girlfriend's daughter and son-in-law, and I thought "THIS is what it's like when families can blend and really enjoy each other."

Hurtling Towards 2025

I am truly living the sweet life, my friends.

Did I ever tell y'all that I got to meet StepUltimate? She was in my area in October and it was so wonderful to meet this amazing woman face to face. We've had the pleasure of supporting each other through some tough relationships with narcissistic spouses. She's also my kitten buddy because we each adopted a pair of kittens in the last couple of years. Even better news is I'll be visiting her in her area next spring! Yay!!

Happy Dance

Happy Monday, dear friends.

Today, I have been single for ten months!! And I'm happy to report that I've finally turned that corner into full acceptance of my reality. It's a peaceful feeling - not feeling the pull to know anything about my ex. I find it uninteresting and can easily redirect my focus, if a thought of him crosses my mind or I get curious about what he's up to. Meh (That's for CLove). I'm finally at "meh."

My birthday was last week - 58 years! Only 4 more until retirement - I hope.

Big News!

I'll start with the big news. My DD31 and her boyfriend of a year are engaged. This happened Sunday, and the wedding plans are in full force. But the biggest news is that they'll be getting married next month!!!!! It will be a small, simple ceremony with only witnesses and parents, followed by a dinner to include siblings - a total of about 15 all together.

No, she's not pregnant. LOL

Crazy Busy Year Winding Down

I'm checking in as my year is winding down.

Last week was my big biking trip on the Great Alleghany Passage. I went with 2 friends and returned with a bunch more! Our ride was supported. We were shuttled to one end and dropped off while the tour company carried our camping gear to the first destination. The tour company also provided breakfast, snacks for the ride and dinner every day. The tour had about 16 participants.

Au revoir!

Today is the long awaited day! This evening, I'll be on my way to Provence via Iceland, Paris, and Avignon. Planes, trains and buses.

My two good friends will arrive today and I'll catch up with them tomorrow. We'll spend 4 days walking trails around Provence, then next Friday, my one friend and I will head to the Atlantic Coast of France going back through Paris, to spend a week in her cottage.

I'll be renting a bike and getting in my miles exploring the flat coastal area during my 2nd week. *squee*

6 Month Check Up

I've been laying pretty low on the posting front because I had a sense that my ex might know about this page - not sure. But, about 6 weeks ago, I noticed he did something strange that caused me to batten down the hatches here, on Facebook, in my cycling app and on reddit.

Weekly Update

Camping weekend was fantastic. Got all of my gear out and I know I packed way too much. The weather was SO cool in the mountains. I had packed a battery operated fan - never needed it.

This group of women I camped with is part of a nation-wide hiking organization for women who are curvy and not into hiking far or fast. Not quite slugs or sloths, but women who take their time and no one is left behind.
