O/T Protein Bars & Beef Jerky

Wow did I start off this day on the wrong foot! First I overslept by an hour and a half. Then I left my lunch on the counter. I've been so good with what I'm eating - my lunch had three tiny meals, each one consisting of a good source of protein and a serving of fruit. I was so pissed when I realized I left it home that I yelled F!?K out loud while merging onto the freeway. LOL

Being almost 2 hours late to work already (extra traffic if I leave after 7AM!), I wasn't going to be able to run out to the supermarket. We don't have a cafeteria or a truck, and I have too many things going today to try to get a group to order in - which would be unhealthy anyway.

Given that, and that my gas gauge was about on E, my best option was the convenience mart at the gas station.

My diet (to support egg production for IVF) dictates having approximately the same number of grams of protein as of carbs at each meal. And I had under 10 minutes to assess options.

Using those guidelines, the best choices at the convenience mart were protein bars, beef jerky, and bananas (the only fruit they had).

I had one of the protein bars just now. It was pretty yucky, but could have been much worse. I was impressed with the vitamin and mineral content. The only thing that worries me about the beef jerky is the sodium, but I have low blood pressure so I don't have to be overly concerned with that.

I've been eating as unprocessed as possible and super healthy for a month.

I got off on the wrong foot today, but I gotta say I'm looking forward to eating this junk! LOL

Hope you're all having a good morning....

I freaking LOVE beef jerky… especially the teriyaki flavor…
*drooling like Homer Simpson*

My husband’s a hunter and every November we have at least one deer carcass butchered and cut into various parts, and I gotta tell ya… there’s nothing in the world tastier than some homemade venison jerky!!! Tons less fat and sooooooooo yummy! I’m getting excited for huntin season just thinking about it…. Yum!

haha - I have teriyaki, and hot & sweet!

Good idea on the peanuts - almonds are even better. The only issue I have with them is I want to eat *way* more than the supposed serving size!
