Ok, so far the skids are acting normal. This is amazing.

Both of them are kind of steering clear of me. I've planted myself on the sofa in the living room -- you know, established my territory. I think it's great that they are steering clear of me, it shows me that they recognize that this is MY house. No more grandma and grandpa undermining everything. Woohoo!

They didn't come barging in like gang busters and drop their shit all over the floor. Their shoes are lined up in the foyer next to the other shoes. They aren't acting all disrespectful and destructive. They are acting like normal kids.

Oh hell yeah. This is a really good sign. So far, this is completely and totally different than they normally behave.

DH can complain about me being "too stern" all he wants, but that shit works.

I try to not use my powers to make people feel like they owe me a debt of gratitude, but really I would appreciate some acknowledgment from my DH that, because of my skills and my knowledge, he may actually be able to have a normal relationship with his children. He sure as the fuck did NOT know how to parent before I came along.

Maybe my methods of relaying my wisdom are a bit crass, but... eh. *shrug*

So... I'll thank myself, because at the very least, I appreciate the fact that they aren't acting like animals right now. And maybe, just maybe, moving into our own home really may be the fresh start we all needed.
