Dear Valued Users,
It's with a heavy heart that we announce the permanent closure of StepTalk.org on August 31st, 2025.
This decision wasn't an easy one. For over twenty years, StepTalk has been a source of support for stepparents around the world! However, over the years, the costs associated with maintaining and upgrading the site to remain secure, meet current standards and maintain availability have become unsustainable.
We are incredibly grateful for your support, contributions and the community you've helped us build. Your engagement has made StepTalk.org a special place and we cherish the memories and connections made here.
We would especially like to thank Aniki for volunteering to be a moderator and for caring so much.
Thank you for being a part of our journey and we wish you all the best.
Sincerely,
Dawn and The StepTalk Team

I could see how it would but
I could see how it would but little girls get like that with their fathers. My SD5 says her dad is her boyfriend and for fathers day made him two cards with similar sayings. She has also told me "stay away from my daddy" and always lays in between us. Just smile a nod.

She's 8.
When she is 13... then I would worry.
She's eight. If she were old
She's eight. If she were old enough to have fallen in love, then I would think it's over the top but at eight, he might be the best thing that's happened to her. Unless she's ever gotten a pony.
Even so, I can't imagine writing that when I was eight, so maybe she had some help?
I don't think it's that
I don't think it's that weird. Little girls are over the top like that. If it were your bio and your dh was her dad, you would probably think it's sweet. Does she do a lot of other mini wife type stuff that bothers you? If so, I could see how this kind of thing might bother you.
Yes,she does the mini wife
Yes,she does the mini wife stuff too,so this card stuff seems a little over the top to me. She tries to walk in between dh and me and tries to dominate him when we are all together. Luckily Dh has started to shut that crap down.
I think it's still better
I think it's still better than SDs showering DH with gifts for his birthday and then pulling him into the other room by himself and cornering him ON HIS BIRTHDAY about buying them iPhone 6 s. they left almost immediately after he told them he doesn't have the money.... All on HIS birthday...
I tell my kids that they are the baby loves of my life and DH is the grown up love of my life. Bth are true, but carefully worded.
My 13 yo son wrote a card to
My 13 yo son wrote a card to my mom and dad that said something similar. I don't think it's creepy; In my case I think my son really loves his family.
