Disengagement hard to do!

step-out's picture

Told DH I wasn't joining SD TUMBLES, him and MIL at dinner. He became irrationally angry and said we'd defer the conversation- I said I had my own plans. I do NOT want to be with SD AT ALL! Help!

Give yourself and everyone else a pardon and move on with your life.

While making the choice to not deal with or interface at all with a SKid, you are also abdicating a place at your DH's side. Why should he tolerate a partner who does that?

Just some thoughts.

Either engage by setting boundaries and enforcing stdards of behavior and standards of performance making sure that your SO partners with you on these things, or move on and find a new partner to make your best life with.

Just my thoughts of course.

She's exactly that age but sooooo hard for me to be around. Completely dismissive and paws over DH and MIL. The nickname is because of the emotional gymnastics and drama that are a staple in her life and get conveyed to her little circle.

With SD and BM.  Seems like he majes excuses to meet up with BM.   You must explain to him when he divorce BM abd started a relationship with you.  Things has to change.   The dinners with SD are ok but not if BM going to be there,
