Spin Off On Tater Thursday
Garden thread:
Oh my gawd the WEEDS!!! Ok I neglected my asparagus bed last fall. Yes I cut down the dried stocks earlier this year as well as pruned the raspberries. But what was really shocking was the entire bed approximately 8 feet by 30 feet was covered in narrow Leaf plantain also known as Buckhorn plantains!!!
I weeded the entire bed out and put down straw. The asparagus it's starting to come up now. I have something called Creeping Charlie, pigweed, lambsquarters, Canada thistle and a few other weeds that I have forgotten their names to.
The dandelions are horrific on the lawn! Fortunately my strawberry bed doesn't look too bad as I paid a lot of attention to it last year. Peonies are coming up and the azaleas are budding . The lilac I planted last year has flower buds. And my 10 year old Magnolia is approximately 12 ft tall now. The blueberry bushes are still alive which is hard for me because I have alkaline soil so I'm always sulfuring those areas.
I have a smattering of Lenten rose and my pear trees as well as my service Berry is blooming. The Forsythia is starting to drop its flowers. Oh and here comes the rhubarb!

We are gardening this year
We are gardening this year for the first time. We are a little late to the game but hopeful it works out!
We're doing lots of potatoes, kale, tomatoes, broccoli, onions, lettuce, carrots, peas. And a bunch of herbs. Hopefully we have some success. We're in northern Ontario and it's snowing right now, gulp.
