Grandbaby update O/T

So, DD25 had a growth scan on Wednesday...babygirl is still in the 3rd percentile, but she is now 17 ounces Smile

that extra ounce means a lot - it's a viable birth weight. Sounds crazy to me, but it is!

DD25 is 24 weeks today. If babygirl showed up today, she would have a 60% survivability rate and a 40% chance of long term neurological issues.

At 28 weeks, which is April 21, she would have a 90% survivability rate and a 5% chance of long term neuro issues. So, she HAS to keep cooking until at least 28 weeks...

I feel bad for DD25 - sooooo not the kind of pregnancy she was hoping for.

I hired someone to clean their house once a week Smile

Believe it or not, she is not as stressed out as I am about all of this. After the scan, she said she was feeling encouraged, which is the first time she's said something like that in a while.

The worst part is just going on with life - showers, vacations, and the like - because who the hell knows when the baby will show up?

I am also going to make them a dinner a week - much easier to deliver now that they are 5 blocks away. Hell, I won't even have to freeze it as it won't even have time to cool off by the time I get there...

I am queen of the crockpot dump meals!

How do you think I survived as a single parent working 60 hours a week? LOL!

I keep telling myself I'm going to make some of those recipes... and keep reminding myself to buy crock pot liners...

thank you - we are both thinking it will be a post birth shower, we are just hoping that babygirl doesn't come the week of either shower Smile

DD25 and I are thinking of lots of "explanations" as to why the baby came early. Right now, the leading candidate is "I went in for a check up and the doctor saw something he didn't like and voila! here comes baby Smile

she has growth scans every other week, and doppler scans every week. Once she hits 28 weeks, she will have BPPs and non-stress tests weekly.

thanks for the prayers Smile

For some encouragement. I was born in 1983 and was a premie at 7 1/2 months. I was on the lucky side that I was already 4 pounds. I had some health issues as a baby/early child but out grew them all. The worst I had was some developmental problems. My mom got the right therapies and by 10 years old I was right on track. I did have to stay in nicu for 10 weeks though.

A friend of mine was only 3 pounds when she was born and is also perfectly healthy now. This was all 30+ years ago. I imagine with all the new advances in technology and medicine it will all work out for your daughter.

Good luck! I understand how anxious this can all be.

:jawdrop:

that is great to hear...I was shocked when DD25 told me that being over one pound was a viable birth weight!!

Glad to hear that she lives so close to you and that you are such a help. Hopes and prayers that the baby stays put and keeps growing. It is very frustrating that there are some people that can just make babies all over the place and pop them out and then for some of us it is a not so easy.

I've learned not to stress so badly about the growth scans, at 20w my son was determined to be in the 10th percentile or something really small and I was red filed and put as high risk. Scans every month and appointments every two weeks from then on and they said up until the end that he would be very underweight. Girl this baby came out at 38 weeks at a hefty 8lbs. I just don't trust these scans anymore...

Boy oh boy-do I help my daughter has your experience!

After all of this worry, nothing would make me feel happier than a big fat healthy baby girl Smile
