If only the show "COPS" could have been filming...................
BM got her first DUI 14 months ago in the drive thru of a fast food restaurant that was closed!!!!
The cop said that he saw the car parked in the drive thru. He pulled up, got out, walked up to her open window and heard her SNORING! The car was running and in drive and BM had her foot on the brake. There was money scattered in her lap. The cop reached in and put the car in park and then tried to wake BM. After he couldn't wake her, he got her purse and found her license. After several minutes of yelling at her and shaking her, she woke up. She said she didn't know how long she had been sleeping. She had a strong odor of alcohol and her speech was slurred. The cop informed her that the restaurant closed at 2:00 a.m. and it was now 3:10 a.m. He put her through a few field sobriety tests and she failed them all.
Now, BM just got another DUI about 10 days ago. We watched this woman drop one of our skids off at the school this morning. As of right now, we don't even know where the other skid even is. We're assuming that BM took her to work with her which is over an hour drive - AND SHE HAS NO LICENSE! FH tried calling her, but she wouldn't answer.
Should I report her to the police? If they pick her up while she's driving under suspension, she will have her car impounded for 30 days and spend three days in jail. I would hate for that to happen when the skids are in the car.
We saw an attorney today and he told FH that he NEVER gives guarantees, but he thinks FH has a 99.9% chance of getting full custody. BM goes to court Feb. 19 and we will know then if she gets driving privaleges for work, kids school, etc...........
Would you report her? Her car is very distinctive in a bad way. (missing hub caps on ONE side, large dent w/damage on passenger side) She's probably terrified every time she gets behind the wheel, being afraid that the same cop may see her out driving, but BM's biggest concern right now is that WE DON'T FIND OUT!!!!!!!!!!!! She's terrified of losing $800/month CS.
We're unsure what to do. We don't want her driving with the skids and possibly drinking while doing it. We don't know how bad of an alcoholic she is. She just got this DUI last week and she spent this past entire weekend in our local bar. WHO DOES THAT IF YOU'RE NOT A RAGING ALCOHOLIC?

Did she get her license back
Did she get her license back after the first DUI?
If so, they wouldn't be suspended already. In our state at least, you are sent a letter from the DMV telling you the date the suspension starts.
She got her license back
She got her license back after the first one (suspended for six months), but in our state they take your license at the time of the arrest. And in the court records it is listed as "administrative license suspension" as of 1/22/10, the date she was pulled over this last time. In our county in Ohio, you are automatically suspended from driving for 15 days, even if you are found innocent at a later date.

In our state, they take it
In our state, they take it the minute you get arrested. Though, it may not be suspended officially yet. usually it's like 30 days or something. You might check with the laws in your state.
But, heck ya. If she's driving with a suspended liscense and you know it, turn her in. make sure and document all this stuff about her drinking.
We've been documenting and I
We've been documenting and I took my journal with me to the lawyer today.

yup sometimes they take the
yup sometimes they take the license but they get to keep driving privies till the court date.
You definitely do need to
You definitely do need to report her to the authorities. And you need to find out where the other skid is. Call your local police and see how long you must wait to file a missing persons report. You need to call the skid's school, her friends (they might know where the skid is), BM, BM's co-workers and boss, and do everything you can to locate the skid.
BM usually takes the skids
BM usually takes the skids to work with her when they're sick. BUT FH told her that he would appreciate a phone call when the skids are sick. We like to be prepared for TWO nights of homework. BM does usually call, but she didn't today. The skids like to go to work with her because it's fun there and they always get lunch at Applebee's. In my opinion, the skids take turns "faking an illness" in order to go have a fun day at work with mommy. They've NEVER missed a day of school on the days we have them. We're not overly concerned at this point about where SD10 is - it's just that we don't want BM driving them all over the place with a suspended license. AND we're concerned she may drinking more than we know about. I heard recently that BM likes to drink from her large coffee thermos, and she takes that thing EVERYWHERE with her. I've seen her with it at the school, sporting events, and even in the bar she frequents, so.........we don't know what is really in there all the time.

The laws are different--here
The laws are different--here if you called the cops they would give her a ticket and have her car towed. Then she would get a fine...that is it. It may scare her from driving again. And you would have proof of her driving with the kids in the car for court.
wow...yur BM is a piece of
wow...yur BM is a piece of work....yur DH should go to Court on the 19th and let the Prosecutor know he is the Dad of these kids and he is very concerned over the BM's DUI issues....this will become part of the public record....u never know...the Judge may ask that the kids be turned over to him immediately if she gets put in jail.....at the very least...it will be great documentation and show yur DH's concern which will help out alot down the road.....good luck!!!
A mother is not defined by the "b" or the "s" in front of her name, she is defined by how she handles the "mother" part.....
Yes, we're considering
Yes, we're considering writing a letter to the judge or prosecutor, or like you said, just showing up at the court on that day. We want the court to know that we are ready and more than willing to have the skids with us and that we are doing it so that BM can get her life together. We can "look" very caring and concerned........

I pray that your children
I pray that your children stay safe for you. I know how concerned you are, who wouldn't be. I know a woman who also carried a thermos , Found out years later it ws always filled with Booze.
I would send a copy to BOTH the proscecutor and Judge, ( but many judges don't read their mail from parents) so best bet is to send to both. Draft a letter of genuine concern and the knowledge you have pertaiing to BM.
Good luck the 19th.
Another thing you could do, I would TRY to make a private appointment with The Proscecutor and pay him a visit before Feb 19th. explain your concerns in detail.
I'm glad you want the children, it seems like they need responsible, loving caring parents. I have no doubts that you give your heart where the children are concerned, very lucky children..you have.!
