A Happy Graduation Story
After reading some of the graduation stories on here recently about who poses with who for pictures, etc. I was a little bit nervous about my SD12's 6th grade graduation last night.
I'm happy to report it went perfectly....well for us anyway! }:)
DH, myself and my 2 boys showed up early enough to get good seats next to DH's parents. We chatted and waited for the room to fill up and all the grads to get there. I noticed the ex's mom there with the baby but no ex and no stepkids. They finally show up about 5 mins. before it starts. The Ex and her folks and the baby all sit far away from us (unfortunately all the seats at our table were taken except for one....darn) Kids head to their spots (SD was graduating and SS was singing in the choir). SS finishes singing and comes to sit down with us instead of mom.
Graduate gets her name called, I get some great pictures, she gets her 'diploma' thing then when she's dismissed she also comes to sit at our table in lieu of mom's. MIL and I take some pics of her sitting there with us. The ex makes her way to our table with her folks and stinky baby who fortunately didn't have poop in her hair this time! Ex looks a bit irritated that the kids came to sit with us. Then it's time for photos.....I almost for one second felt bad for his ex when she was standing there alone watching the 6 of us (DH+Myself+HisTwo+MyTwo) take our family pictures but fortunately it passed quickly. The ex was complaining about SD not showing her teeth in her pics so I chimed in that I got some good ones of her showing her teeth and I'd be happy to send her some. DH says I should slip one of our wedding day in there too. If she continues being such a witch, I just might!
Anyway, just thought I'd share a HAPPY SM MOMEMENT!!

That is a very good story,
That is a very good story, love it when the kids do not have to share the lime light with the parents drama.
I second that, KTL! It's nice
I second that, KTL! It's nice to hear that adults can all act like adults for the time being. As long as the kids don't have a clue how awkward it was for any of you, then I'd say it was definitely a success! I also think it's great that they didn't feel obligated to sit with your family or the BM, as that means the kids are comfortable with the situation...always a good thing.
Good for you! We had the
Good for you! We had the grad thing 2 weeks ago. Since I'm the photo taker in the group, I was kinda in charge. Seriously, if BM needs pics of the skids, she asks me for some! I even consented to allowing a WHOLE group shot taken- Princess and her two brothers (my skids), my husband (her father) and our bio son, her birth mother, her stepfather, my parents, my husbands parents, bio mom's brother, bio mom's mother, and my husand's sister.
It wasn't about us, it was about Princess....
Last Wife that is so nice of
Last Wife that is so nice of you, I love it when I see that things can be good if we all act civil, gives other's much needed hope. Have you always gotten along this well?
