O/T Skinny Jeans

Ok, so I know we have members from around the world, I live in America, California, Southern California. Not sure what the fashions are elsewhere, but here we have "skinny jeans". Everyone wants skinny jeans, skin tight skinny jeans. I DON'T LIKE SKINNY JEANS! When my SD12 wears skinny jeans with skinny tank tops or tight shirts it's almost like she's wearing a full body leotard! Just because her skin isn't showing doesn't make it appropriate, does it? I don't know, maybe I'm just a little old fashioned....or prudish.... I mean it would be different if she wore a longer shirt, maybe a little looser to off set the jeans being so tight, but her shirts are just as tight. Man, complaining about kids fashions makes me feel old. Blah!

LOL, over here on the east coast it's skinny jeans too ! and I am with you - HATE THEM !!!

And god, yes, it makes me feel old to complain about kids fashion !

I don't really like them. But my daughter looks kind of cute in them. But she is 5'8 and weighs maybe 100 pounds. She can pull it off without looking trampy because skinny jeans don't fit her very tight.

They are everywhere this year.

SD12 is really skinny too, and for the longest time couldn't find skinny jeans skinny enough, but she seems to have solved that problem. I would not consider her look anything close to trampy, but it sure is tight.

What I really hate is skinny jeans on men. That just doesn't seem right! I could never pull off skinny jeans myself, or I have the good sense not to try. Not sure which.

Skinny jeans on men, yes... YUCK!!!!!!!!

I have one pair of skinny jeans that I absolutely LOVE, BUT they aren't skin-tight skinny jeans either. I'm in the south and they're all the rage here too. My SD15 looks cute in them but SD11 not so much.

I live in Iowa and its very popular here as well. I dont think my daughter (15) owns a pair of jeans that arent "skinny". I dont mind them so much on girls but the boys wear them here too! Its scary to see a teenage boy in a pair of hot pink skinny jeans!!!

I totally forgot about the boy skinny jeans! Thank goodness SS11 doesn't wear them! I see the punk rock kids wearing skinny jeans and "sagging" at the same time! Skin tight jeans only pulled half way over their butts! What the heck are they thinking?!?!?

Skinny jeans all the range in Canada as well. I really, really hate them. No matter what size or age you are, they are simply not flattering. Waiting for the trend to be over!

some people wear it well, but my sd13.5 looks like a little slut when she wears the skin tight jeans (anything) and super tight tops.

the other day she had skinny jeans and a top that looked like it fell out of the disco era covered with silver sequins... in the sun, you would need sunglasses... and she wore that to school... that didn't look slutty, it looked hideous..... i didn't laugh, but really really wanted to.

yeah, i am amazed at the slut wardrobe bm allows sd to have... even mil makes sd change clothes when sd is with her... yeah, the mil that thinks the sun rises and sets on sd's ass doesn't like the way she dresses.

They are big here too but they are worn with long, loose tops. Only real skanks wear them with short or tight tops. They are almost like tights because the tops that are worn with them are long enough to be short dresses.

I have about 6 pairs of jeggings - I LOVE them, so comfy but I'd NEVER wear them without a loose top that goes past my ass.

so funny, i totally, totally agree. here in nyc they are all the rage. i went to get a pair of MATERNITY jeans yesterday and they tried to sell me skinny jeans. i mean -- COME ON. I already feel like i'm carrying around a water balloon, do you really think i want to highlight my hips and short legs???

i cannot wait for this trend to be over.

Oh -- and BM just bought 2 pairs of skinny jeans for her SIX year old daughter. SIX. I kept my mouth shut.

I like skinny jeans paired with an oversized long top. Skinny jeans and skin tight shirt :sick:

I swear Seattle is the capitol of skinny jeans! I HATE THEM! Tons of hipster grown men walk around in them. I agree they look terrible on everyone, no matter what age or size you are.

I agree completely.

It's almost my 'uniform' these days , skinny jeans or jeggings with a long flowing top and boots or heels. It's so comfy.

I find this fad funny too.. The even funnier part is when I wear my "skinny jeans" it means I've lost a few pounds.. Haha otherwise I wear my "fat jeans" as I call them.. Wink

I love A.deville's post.. Reminds me of the rules at my dad's house. It had to be in the same week he found a t-shirt I bought "don't be a b*tch, play fast pitch". He destroyed it. Then a few days later my little sis got like 6 new thongs, brand new never worn, she was washing them.. He found them cut them all but left them in the dryer for her to find.. She was like a freshman in hs, she was sooo mad cuz she had to save her money from babysitting to buy them.. She laughs about it now.. Smile

I don't wear skinny jeans now, but when I was a teenager, I pegged my jeans. (I'm 35)

I don't care for it now, I stick with the super-low cut boot legs from Buckle. It's not that I can't wear them (I'm 125 lbs at 5'4") I just like the look of the boot-cut better.

And I wear Abercrombie - the shirts I was going to get this summer (before I realized I had left all my money at home) were loooong.

I'm just jealous I can't wear skinny jeans like my DD16. I think they look like trash...but when they're ALL wearing them (go up to her school and look around!)

LOL...I live in South Texas where the girls are a bit healthy but that doesn't stop them from wearing skiny jeans....not a pretty site. Skinny jeans are cute on someone with a really good figure and if worn with the right top. JMO
