P.O. Box Not Even!
so, I opened our medical insurance claims this morning and saw that BM has been having medical bills for skids put in DHs name at the doctor's, then having the bills forwarded to some PO box that may or may not exist. I was always told that the responsible party is the person accompanying the child to the doctor's and that its up to that person to recoup any out of pocket from the NCP. Am I wrong here, and what suggestions do you guys have?

it's bs! who has the
it's bs! who has the insurance for the skids? if it's dh than any outstanding invoices are going into lala land and will ultimately go to collections and dh's credit will be screwed.
sounds a lot like our bm's (FatF#$kingCun!) tactics... well, in the cases where she would take either skid to the doctor.. 99% of the time she would makes skids wait till dh's visitation day so he would have to take, pay co-pay and rx.... in the event she did take skids to the dr. she would some how get out of paying copay, so we would get a bill in the mail and she would rarely ever by rx. and if she did, we would certainly get a note from her wanting 1/2 back.
side note, FFC has NEVER taken wither skid to the dentist.
wish she would go on a trip off the side of the earth with skids in tow....
WOW! She's got balls to do
WOW! She's got balls to do the fake p.o. box thing to avoid paying her share and/or give DH bad credit.
"wish she would go on a trip
"wish she would go on a trip off the side of the earth with skids in tow...."
My sentiments exactly...too much drama!
I just don't get it. She could very well send us the bill, she could send it to stuck-in-her-rear MIL. Why would she send it somewhere knowing it won't be paid and then not say anything aboutit???!!!!!! REALLY???? CAN A PERSON BE ANYMORE PSYCHO???????
yes, pi, yes they can! "CAN A
yes, pi, yes they can!
"CAN A PERSON BE ANYMORE PSYCHO???????"
she's probably doing it to f up dh's credit..... if you guys carry the insurance, contact the provider immediately to fix anything she has f'd up!
SF, I checked with the
SF, I checked with the insurance and THIS IS THE FIRST TIME SHE'S TAKEN THE SKIDS TO THE DENTIST'S!!!!!!!!!!!! WTH?????????????????
At least we found out early enought to avoid any trouble.
good to catch it early....
good to catch it early.... now you have to add to your list of things to do, make sure dentist and pcp has proper mailing address for dh..
another one of FFC's favorites was to make an appointment and not show up, so we would also get bills for that. so i called all skids dr.'s explained what was going on and asked them to please make sure they confirm any appointments with dh or myself and we will makes sure skids are there or give the required 24 cancellation notice.
that worked great, UNTIL bm tried to get a gov't hand out ~~ whole long different story... but definitely make sure you & dh are in the loop... dr.'s office will work with you, especially if they know if they're gonna get paid it will be from dh.
In retrospect, I wonder how
In retrospect,
I wonder how many times this trick has done this????!!!! I am getting totally POed.........
Ohhh... I know how this
Ohhh... I know how this feels.
My husband is the insurance carrier and so he's the "repsonsible party".
She'll take the girls to the emergency room... won't pay the copay... and then puts HER address on the form... and then throws away the bill when it comes... and then says she never GOT a bill.
I get so friggin' mad... but it doesn't matter. Jesus Himself could tell her to cut it out and she won't.
I just reference the Explanation of Benefits (EOB) that I can access online, see who the Provider was and call them to have a copy of the bill sent to our address.
DH's credit is too important to me to play THAT stupid game.
She cannot list your DH as
She cannot list your DH as the responsible party at the doctor's office. It has nothing at all to do with the insurance.
Your DH needs to call the doctors' office billing department and explain that he was not present when the kids were seen and that he is NOT the responsible party.
They don't care. Judges don't
They don't care. Judges don't care.
Seriously been down this road and fought a valiant fight... and no matter how unfair and unjust it sounds?
All she's gotta do is put his name down.

You have to check their
You have to check their divorce decree - in ours it states that DH is responsible for maintaining insurance on SS but that the co-pays are done by the CP - when we had SS full time - if he got sick while seeing his mother she would send him back and then tell DH that he was not feeling well and we needed to take him to see a doctor. One time he was having trouble peeing and she waited for him to come back and waited a few days to tell DH that he was having problems. We took him to the doctor and he had a UTI.
When he got braces this year we spilt the cost after insurance. It pissed me off that we had to do that being as we pay $5000.00 a year for insurance and because we choose the highest level we pay so much so that she pays so little at the co-pays. The braces due to the great insurance we got were actually reasonable and of course she immediately texted DH and gave him the break down and how much we each owned and how were we meaning her and us going to pay for it. I emailed her and said we will pay our half and you pay yours however you want. She wanted us to pay out of our flex spending and then pay us back a little each month - I was like no way we need that for the rest of our family!
According to the divorce
According to the divorce decree, she is responsible for upfront fees at the time of service. It is her responsibility to contact DH and forward receipts for reimbursements.
She's just an old unhappy hag with an axe to grind and is insistent on trying to hurt us anyway she can.

Similar situation was done to
Similar situation was done to us by our BM. Although I guess she had the "decency" to have the bill sent to DH's correct address.
We had told her that SD needed an eye exam. She told SD to tell DH that if he wanted her to have an eye exam, he needed to take her. Now realize, we live in a small town with no eye places open on the weekends. So we drove another hour (one way) to take her on one of our weekends and she DID need glasses and picked them out.
BM got mad, didn't like the glasses and went back to the place we had taken her to get SD different glasses. We didn't know this until we got THAT bill. Of course, insurance didn't pay for any of it since SD had already got glasses.
The judge made BM pay the bill and said that DH didn't even have to pay half of that one.
In your particular situation, I wonder if that could be construed as some type of identity theft or fraud? I would definitely check into this further with a lawyer or someone else more familiar with matters like this.
