VALIDATION!!!
Well it was about TIME!!! The rose color glasses DH has been wearing when he see's SD are finally breaking. She seems to always turn into a "perfect" little angle when daddy is around, so when I tell him about her attitude, the one that looked stupid was ME.
So what happened you ask??... great question, glad you asked!!!
Well apparently she has been displaying the same attitude at her after school program and yesterday was the last draw for her counselors. Her display of emotions was fit for a 4 year old. When I picked her up from her camp the counselor approached me and started telling me the story, it took my all not to laugh right then and there. SD was standing behind the lady crying and hiding behind her back-pack.
The counselor said that since the summer, she has acted this way. Every time she doesn't get something or something doesn't go her way she throws a fit. She screams and yells, stomps her feet, and cries for hours. This last time was because she was one of a handful of kids to have homework and was not allowed to play until it was finished. Well, when she gets upset she doesn't do her homework properly and takes her twice as long; THAT is what happened, she took forever to finish and didn't have much time left to play. When she finally finished she only had about 10 minutes left to play before they had to return to camp, they had gone to the playground because the weather has been so nice lately. When she was told that it was time to go she FREAKED out, to say the least!!!
This is exactly how she acts with me, not with daddy, grandma, or other people WITH ME and apparently her after school camp. I asked the lady to please write it down for me so that I could show DH AND the therapist. They both think that I am crazy for suggesting SD has a behavioral problem, but this is a little crack in the ceiling!
I told DH that HE needs to speak with therapist because OBVIOUSLY there is something wrong with SD. She OBVIOUSLY doesn't know how to show her displeasure in an appropriate way. The therapist needs and SHOULD address this AND teach us how to help her cope. YAY, others are starting to speak up and I am not left looking like the idiot.
BTW!! DH didn't ever punish her. He spoke to her and made her aware of that her performance was not appropriate. WHAT!!! WTF!!! OOHH and she kept saying... "I'm scared... I'm so scared" when I asked why... "because daddy or you are going to hit me" WTF?!? We have NEVER laid a hand on her!! She pisses me off so much!! FML!

At 4 years old she already
At 4 years old she already sounds like a master manipulator! good luck. You're going to need it!
OOHH SHE is NOT 4!! She is
OOHH SHE is NOT 4!! She is TEN, 10!!!!! She acts like she is 4. My DS is 4, and he doesn't pull the same shit she does!! so aggravated!
I'm waiting for the same
I'm waiting for the same awakening from my DH and to finally realize what his little angel is really like and stop blaming me.
I suggest making sure to keep following up with her counselors and teachers. Let them know your DH wants to get reports about his daughter's behavior. That way you have more reports and he can see what he's doing is not working.
Good for you - I too think
Good for you - I too think you should keep a copy of what the counsellor wrote.
I don't think that'll happen,
I don't think that'll happen, Thank goodness!! He wanted to beat her, but knows that is not the proper approach so he decided to speak with her instead. I think she is on the spectrum, very high functioning, but still on the spectrum. She doesn't know how to relate to children her age and can't seem to make friends. AND to top it of the therapist thinks I am crazy for suggesting there is something wrong with SD!!
check into aspbergers that is
check into aspbergers that is what my son has very high functioning but he still had those problems freaking out over home work and not being able to play, not making friends, not understanding social behaviors and such. He is much better but b/c I worked with him hard on how to do these things his way.
