OT: No sex drive and tired all the time

doll faced sm's picture

DH should be home relatively soon, but instead of being excited, I'm just super anxious.

I had my thyroid checked since thyroid issues run in my family on my dad's side. About half of his siblings are on one form of thyroid med or another.

Nope, my thyroid function is *great*! I suppose that would explain my recent weight loss????

I dunno. In the past month, I've lost 25 lb.s not really trying. For the past 4 months, I've just felt like crap on a stick all the time time. It's been over a year since I've really had a sex drive.

So, not thyroid, what the hell else could be wrong with me?

25#'s in ONE month. That's starvation. You cannot continue to do that.

I suspect you are severely depressed and you need professional help.

I should clarify, I'm *not* starving myself. I skip breakfast, but I suspect many, many people do. Just not enough time in the morning. However, I eat lunch, dinner, and often a snack every day.

Unless you weigh 400 pounds, there's no way you lost 25 in a month "without trying." That's nearly a pound a day.

Actually it is possible. I weighed 175lbs at the beginning of August. (Overweight for my height but w.e.) In about 2 months, I lost 30-35lbs. Why? I have no idea. Doctor seems to think it has something to do with the rash and sudden anemia I have developed in the last couple months. I too had my thyroid tested (and several other tests). I have to see a gastroenterologist now for more testing. So it is possible to be lose that much in a short time span if you are experiencing some type of illness, and I don't consider being ill 'trying'.

I mean that I'm still eating as much as I have in the past. I try to make healthier choices most days b/c on Wed. and Thurs., I don't make it home in time to make dinner, and on those days we do take-out. So overall, I don't think there is a change in average calories consumed per week now vs. what they were a month ago. Despite this, I've lost about 25 lb.s. That's what I mean about the weight.

I had my sugar checked over a year ago, but that was while preg., so will look into that again. And yeah, hormones, will have that looked at.

*sigh* my DH is super sensative about things like sex. If I shut him down, he'll be hurt. If I go along with it, but he can tell I'm not really into it, he'll be hurt.

I'm going through similar changes. Honestley I eat very unhealthily, but my weight will I up and down 7-10lbd throughout the week. I also don't have much I a sex drive. I enjoy sexual activities after we get going, but don't really have a desire to initiate it.

I have my annual appointment coming up, so I'm planning to get my hormones checked as well. So at least you're not alone!

You just described depression. You should talk to your doc about it. depression doesnt necessarily have anything to do with what is going on in your life; its just a chemical reaction in your brain that sometimes happens for no reason.

I went through dramatic weight loss after my separation from my ex like 30lbs in 2 months. Even after the stress and depression got better I kept losing another 10. 3 yrs later a zillion tests and I'm in great health medically but now 8I lbs under weight and eating crap just to try and keep weight on donuts and oatmeal for breakfast soup and cookies and chips and a soda for lunch then some more cookies and chips or granola for snacks a normal dinner if I'm even hungry. I'd throw in the carnation instant breakfast drinks and an oj for vitamins and calories and yet nothing. My sex drive sucked my mood was bleh and easily stressed I figured it was school and internship and worrying about money. Then my doc had me keep a food journal for a few weeks write what I ate when I ate and nutritional info and turns out I was inly getting about 800 calories so even though I was eating I was in effect still starving myself without knowing. I've been eating high calorie healthy stuff for about 2 weeks now this is 3 years later after all tge dramatic loss I already feel better happier and a little less stressed. Look at the value of what you eat and look at everyday stressors and what you may need to adjust you can feel a lot better if you do.
