It’s a Christmas miracle - Skid is NOT coming

momjeans's picture

That is, unless something changes between now and a couple weeks.

DH spoke with skid last night and she said she is NOT coming for Christmas. And as I understand it, this includes after too.

The court ordered visitation states that skid spends every other Christmas with DH, with the alternating year flying out after Christmas on the 28th.

Well, for the last SIX YEARS straight skid has spent it with us. Generally from the 2nd week in December, all the way through the first week in January. She’s in private school, so extra long break.

HCBM always liked to spend Christmas alone with said boyfriend, or was recently married, or was pregnant over last Christmas, blah blah blah. Always something. Always inconvenienced by skid’s presence (per DH).

According to skid, “They” feel it would be “best” if she stayed home to spend it with her almost 8 month old baby half-sibling, BM, and BM’s new husband. DH believes “They” to be BM and BM’s Mom.

DH thinks it’s because BM wants a little mini-mom skid around to help with the baby over the holidays.

Regardless of the reasons, I’m just happy to have a skid-less Christmas for ONCE. Omg. DH was visibly happy with this news. Our Christmas will be free of the constant BM talk, and the Skid Show.

Like I pointed out above, this is also going to be a plot twist for the inlaws, since they’re basically attached at the hip with her while she’s here.

No skid to engage with = no inlaws for me to engage with.

I forsee DH playing this card when it comes to my no contact with them. That skid isn’t here to aggravate matters, so what’s the big deal?

The deal is, this was her (or rather, BM’s) decision, not the inlaws. The inlaws always bypass DH’s executive decision, being the bio parent and all, enabling BM to get her way. Every. Christmas.

Skid’s absence isn’t a get out of jail free card. But I’m sure DH will see it as such.

This is going to be glorious.

I was going to say to watch out for the inlaws pushing to get skid a ticket behind your back last minute..

You know it, I love dogs. I keep reminding myself I still have a month for this good news to go south.

This is fantastic! I'm cautiously optimistic for you!

I got a Thanksgiving miracle as well, when my SO offered up skids to Crazy for Thanksgiving, instead of us having them per the CO. So we have tomorrow (well, from like 1pm on) and the entire weekend skid-free, and I cannot wait!!
