OT - Eff Off Friday/Forn Friday

Aniki-Moderator's picture

Welcome to Friday, STalkers! The weekend is hours away and I'm ready for it. And a vacation...

Eff off to:

  • the typical top-of-the-lister, King Pita. I don't like to see coworkers fail, but KP is like a non-swimmer floundering in the middle of Gitche Gumee while trying to juggle five two-man bucksaws, balance a flatulent walrus on his head, and attempting to unicycle out of the way of the Arthur M. Anderson. KP constantly drops the ball AND inundates the peons (his team) with caca that is useless, was completed days/weeks ago, or has been answered countless times. Face it, dude. You are NOT cut out for this job.
  • Long covid. It suuuuuuuuucks and I am bloody tired of it.

Forn Friday

Forn is 'food' and 'p0rn' combined.

Brownies. I want some. Yes, I know there are those who luuuuuuuv cake-like brownies. You can have 'em. I'm craving fudgy brownies bordering on gooey. Might have to whip up a batch of Supernatural Brownies this weekend. How about you? Cake-like, fudgy, blonde, cheesecake... What deliciousness do you have planned?

Wishing you a stress-free, healthy, and enjoyable weekend!

Eff off Friday so much I'm at home, not working, having a second cup of coffee with my precious baby boy kitty snoozing in my lap. No work today! Eff off work!

Later I'll go for a swim then shopping with a girlfriend. Meet up with the boys for dinner at our fave pizza place! Thin Italian style pizza! Folded over gooey slices with cheeze and the best crust. That's my forn today.

My BFF moving across the country. I do have my sister close by, but my BFF  moving    :(

Life seems to be getting smaller and smaller.

What a bummer for you. {{hugs}}

I know it's not quite the same, but today's technology makes it easier for you to stay in touch. Zoom, Facetime...

I'm getting over the'flu and pretty much hate the universe. Worse, I'm on my own this evening with one of my daughters, the one who loves "Mask Singer". Guess what's on TV tonight?

As for forn, I am trying to get my body used to the idea of solid food again. Nothing appeals to me in the least (whine, whine, whine).

There is a little positivity in all this, my kitty (she's about 10months old) is a good nurse. When I first started the uncontrollable shivering, she stretched out on me to try and warm me up. She's been present ever since. Think we got a good one there!

:)

Can your daughter tape the show so you are not subjected to that caca? Ish. Hope you're better soon!

What about some basic foods? Rice pudding comes to mind...

Furbabies are the best!  >^..^<

I want nothing to do with cake-like brownies! SD12 made brownies last time they were here, only because they were called "slutty brownies". Eiether way, they were DELICIOUS. Chocolate chip Cookie bottom, oreos in the middle, brownies on top.

Oh, and eff off to sneaky skids, and cancer. One of my BFF's just found out she has it- she lives in CO. My DH and I were planning to go away for our anniversary next wknd, and we decided to fly to CO to visit her. Love DH for that- I was out of state for work when I found out, text DH about it...he called me right away, I ran the idea of flying to visit her past him and he immediately said yes. Bittersweet, but hopefully she will kick it's ass.

TN77, gooey and chocolatey. Cheesecake brownies are pretty darn tasty, too.

Prayers for your friend. Cancer sucks.

But...SO and I have lost so much weight avoiding sugar and sweets that they are only made occasionally for special occasions nowadays. We love brownies but also love being at a nice healthy weight. And sugar and sweets puts on the pounds for both of us, sadly.

Since early retirement - I have such few eff off's to give. I highly recommend retirement but still recall my working days. TGIF to all!

Caninelover, I can't tell you the last time I had a brownie. Maybe last Summer? I plan to make a small pan, save the center piece, and give the rest to DH and SS19in their lunches.

Totally the best.  Enjoy!

Hey, Ani, I'm not sure what recipe you're using for fudgy brownies but this is my favorite, no-fail brew. Secrets are to NOT overstir or overbake. I line my pan with parchment paper for easy removal. However, the sides will always be a bit overcooked so expect to (after cooling) cut off about a half-inch from all sides. The cut-off bits make great snacks with morning coffee.

             grannyd's Brownies

  • 6 oz.  Baker's Unsweetened or semi-sweet Chocolate, lightly chopped
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped pecans, toasted
  • Heat oven to 350°F.
  • Microwave chocolate and butter in large microwaveable bowl on HIGH until chocolate is completely melted (about 2 minutes), opening microwave ever so often to stir. Add sugar; mix well. Blend in eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour and nuts.
  • Spread into 13x9-inch pan sprayed with cooking spray. Also spray, lightly, the parchment paper.
  • Bake 28 to 30 min. or until toothpick inserted in centre comes out clean. (Do not overbake.)

Here's my recipe, grannyd...

Supernatural Brownies

  • 16 tbsp. unsalted butter, plus more for greasing
  • 8 oz. bittersweet chocolate, cut into 1⁄4" pieces
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1⁄2 tsp. fine salt
  • 1 cup flour

  1. Heat oven to 350°. Grease a 9" x 13" baking pan with butter and line with parchment paper; grease paper. Set pan aside.
  2. Pour enough water into a 4-quart saucepan that it reaches a depth of 1". Bring to a boil; reduce heat to low. Combine butter and chocolate in a medium bowl; set bowl over saucepan. Cook, stirring, until melted and smooth, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat; set aside.
  3. Whisk together eggs in a large bowl. Add sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, and salt; whisk to combine. Stir in chocolate mixture; fold in flour. Pour batter into prepared pan; spread evenly. Bake until a toothpick inserted into center comes out clean, 30–35 minutes. Let cool on a rack. Cut and serve.

MAKES 24 BROWNIES

Yo, Ani!

Your recipe fills this enthusiastic old baker with excitement! Reading your ingredients (with my understanding of how foodstuffs react in combination) has me raring to storm the kitchen. The extra egg, additional 2 ounces of chocolate, 1/4 cup more of butter and a combination of white and brown sugars are bound to result in a better fit for a 13x9 inch pan than my brew.

I’ll be trying this out, Hon, and will let you know the results ASAP. And BTW, do you put icing on your brownies? A bit like gilding the lily but men seem to enjoy that gazillion-calorie embellishment.

Aniki-Moderator's picture

Granny, those brownies are too rich for icing. The only thing I'd do would be a LIGHT dusting of powdered sugar. *kiss2*

Sorry about King PITA.  Sounds like the perfect example of the Peter Principle.  "people in a hierarchy tend to rise to "a level of respective incompetence": employees are promoted based on their success in previous jobs until they reach a level at which they are no longer competent"

My eff off is work related too.  I'm currently working with a team of experts.  We are all highly qualified in our specialities and are in place to provide guidance and advice to operational team across the organisation.  However, we have a problem in that we are all women.  This leads to some misunderstandings with our predominantly male operation colleagues who think we can be ignored and don't follow our guidance.  Then when they have royally screwed up, they want us to come and perform a miracle to clean up their mess.

I had two people try to dump their messes on me yesterday.  I had to package up the proverbial piles of poo and then hand it back to them to fix themselves.

Sadly, I don't really love sweet food so I'll happily leave you guys all the brownies, gooey or otherwise.

I'm going to be making a chicken jalfrezi.  I hope the hot chillis help to cure Mr TASM's really persistant cold.  He's tested and tested and tested negative for Covid but this cold has lasted more than two weeks.  The one saving grace is that he didn't manage to infect me!

Aniki-Moderator's picture

Ah, ye olde Peter Principle. Ugh.

TASM, I googled chicken jalfrezi. Sounds very tasty! Hopefully, Mr TASM will be over that darn cold soon.
