I had blogged previously about Bratty suddenly being nice to me, which raised alarms that they would ask for a visit.  There is an event they like to go to here in early June which was cancelled in 2020-21 due to the pandemic, but it is happening live this year.

Well I am safe now.  Bratty caught COVID (at the Mermaid Convention she went to...ha ha) and was sick enough to go to the ER (they sent her home and she is isolating and recovering).  I had already laid some groundwork with SO that we don't want to entertain houseguests (without mentioning Bratty specifically) in June and generally lay low a bit to avoid any COVID exposure ourselves (SO had a recent bought but I haven't caught it yet - knock on wood).  He agreed, so now with Bratty sick and us not entertaining any houseguests, I am assured peace and quiet through our trip and reception in early July.  Thank goodness.

Also Bratty and their Aunt - who uninvited them to stay with them in July for the reception and subsequent family reunion - now seem to have agreed that Bratty wiill stay with her two nights after the reception.  I think the Aunt felt guilty at initially saying yes but then saying no.  Bratty is staying with Nutter GF's parents who live in the area for the rest of the time (though SO did get them a room at the reception hotel to avoid their driving on that night).  I know Nutter's family met Bratty when she attended a wedding with Nutter last year but I don't know how much time they've spent together.  

I think Bratty didn't want to stay with Nutter's parents (and wanted to stay the whole time with her aunt) because she knows she'll have to be on her best behavior with Nutter's parents.  No attitude or entitled demands at all which is hard for her.  LOL.  I also found out that Nutter's father is a doctor (and Nutter's brother is in med school now) so I'm sure he'll be peppering Bratty with questions about her med school plans (which she hates because the truth is she is far from a shoe-in for med school acceptance).  I wonder what he'll think of his darling Nutter dating a professional mermaid...

For our reception the caterer will make two seperate vegan plates for Bratty and Nutter.  Bratty seemed pleased at the special attention.  She will be relegated to a regular guest table with her cousins and not seated with SO and I.  We're also skipping family speeches, etc so she won't have a role other than to just attend.  I told SO he is responsible for any Bratty drama on that day and I won't be dealing with her.

So, things are set and I don't have to see Bratty until July 10th at the reception.  This puts me in a good mood!
