O/T Great Day!!!

Rags's picture

Headed to our Sat AM IP weigh in. DW lost 4lbs in wks.  It shows.  I put on a lb.  Grrr.

Then... we had breakfast at our favorate breakfast place and headed out to see 7 Magic Mountains. A desert art installation. After we scoped it out, it was our usual get lost and see new stuff day.

We headed SW on I-15.  Then headed toward Nipton.  Had a beautiful heavy rain storm in the desert. Heading throufh the Mojave Preseve on the Joshua Tree Highway.  About a third of the way we cut onto the Power Line Road. A great Jeep trail.  With all of the recent desert rain there were amazing wild flowers. Blues, yellows, oranges, purples, whites.  Small ones, big cactus blooms.  Joshua trees everywhere.

3.5 hours of banging around in the rocky desert later.... we headed into Boulder City for a late lunch.  After lunch we drove through the Lake Mead Recreation area to see of the water in the lake has come up discernably. Nope, it is up about 4 feet. Not enough to make a difference visually.

DW commented repeatedly about the great day.

Mission accomplished.

She smiled and crushed on the desert flowers all day long.

Have a great weekend STalkers.

Happy to hear it! Sounds like a great way to spend the day. Sorry about lake Mead.

We are going to head to Page AZ and look at Lake Powell one weekend fairly soon.  Arguably my #1 most beautiful place on the planet.  It is going up 3ft per day at the moment due to the huge snow pack melt off in the Rockies.

Ah, Rags!

Your oh-so-positive posts are both evocative and heartwarming. My husband and I were discussing, just this morning, our mutual belief that happy marriages are the foundation of a happy life. Like you and your 'bride', DH and I feel blessed to be so compatible and still in love after 4 decades. It's (very) occasionally heavy going but we continue to be best friends, as well as lovers.

in a marriage.

My parents have modeled it my whole life.  I have done everything I can to have our version fo that with my DW.

I wish this for every marriage though I have no regrets that it did not happen the first time I played the marriage lottery.

I would have missed my amazing bride.

2.5yrs of hell was well worth the nearly 29 years of amazing... and counting.
