Too Bad You Burned Your Bridges OSS28

In an earlier blog I mentioned how Pumpkinhead's (OSS28) house looked as though it was abandoned and there was a giant pod storage bin in the driveway.  Well the cat is out of the bag.  Seems like they had a major plumbing leak in the summer and are now reporting that Pumpkinhead's leg broke through the ceiling of their upstairs bedroom down into the kitchen below.

I had to laugh because Pumpkinhead's Uncle Kinky AKA Chef's only full blood brother who is shunning Chef because of the divorce to the Girlhippo, had his husband chime in and say "you have many relatives that can help you with the repairs."   Not really.  Most of them could write a check but none are as handy as Chef, who is a multi-skilled master contractor.   Chef  routinely gives home improvement advice to Awesomeson on his house.  We've also helped with a few Home Improvement projects as well.

Too bad your loyalty is in one basket to the Girhippo, Pumpkinhead.  I noticed that the Girhippo nor Stepdaddybigbucks chimed in on this post so no help from them nor sympathy.   How's that one way street loyalty working for you now, Pumpkinhead?

Frankly, Chef has far too many relatives that only want him for his remodeling/fix-It skills and have nothing to offer in return so it's just as well.

That all relatives on the Girhippo side are heifers?  Pumpkinhead is approximately 6 ft tall and weighs over 300 lb.  Not that there's an excuse for coming through the ceiling.

They probably bought a house with a lot of, as they say in the real estate industry, "deferred maintenance" which Chef could have warned them about had they not been alienated by the Girhippo.

I have found that many times the "young" just seem to have zero common sense about an issue... My YSD was renting a home from us.. and it turns out there was a small leak.. that they didn't report to us..that ended up actually buckling the hardwood in their bedroom.. across the hall from the bathroom.  They were just wiping up water occasionally.. but never told us it was happening.  So, the damage got so bad that flooring had to be replaced.  It was a simple fix.. tightening up a fixture.. but they let it go on..

Now she owns her own home.. they have learned to be more aware.. that small issues can cause great problems in the future.

Thats not just bad thats super bad.

Yes, free fixing doesnt work in our current lives, husband charges for that now. And one-way loyalty also doesnt work.

In my catastrphe adjuster days.

Roofs are not usually places to walk on, but... old ones can be rotten and do not bear weight well.

Hopefully Chef keeps his emotions in check and lets Pumpkin head wallow in the solution for himself.

He said "oh well."  Basically because Pumpkinhead is his least favorite kid... he favors the youngest aka the HousesHitter SS22 so if something like that happened to him he would be more likely to cave.  This is despite the fact that the HousesHitter threatened to beat Chef up should he see him again.

I had the most hope for Pumpkinhead as he seemed to genuinely be a good kid albeit silly and attention seeking and despite bad parenting.

When we were doing the bathroom upstairs...full gut and remodel...tub stayed.. I was standing on beam with one foot and the tub..vacuuming crap out... I slipped, stepped down and cracked the ceiling the kitchen.. oopsy haha. Didn't take much..

Unless this was the case in pumpkinheads house how do you possibly fall thru your floor. That's BAD! All I pictured was a scene in breaking bad.. if you know you know..

I've done a Chevy Chase (Clark Griswold) in the attic slipping between floor joists, but my understanding was there was no water damage upstairs.
