SS11 is going to get me a discount on the mortgage!
For the past couple of months, DH has been allowing SS11 all day access to the PS4 that's in the family room. I have literally watched this boy play from 1 or 2 in the afternoon to 9 or 10 at night. In the family room. Next to the dining room that's next to the kitchen. Me and SD14 pretty much stay in our rooms because he is on a headset yelling at his friend that is playing the game too. He is so loud, it's ridiculous and he monopolizes the TV. On the rare occasions when DH plays on it, SS11 yells at him like he is an idiot and tells him every move to make. SD14 and I just roll our eyes and go upstairs. If he is not on the PS4, he is sitting in the recliner in the family room on his iPad (which he also yells at).
Problem is, now I feel like the only room I can be in is our bedroom. I have complained to DH numerous times and told him that allowing a child to spend that much time playing video games is criminal. Nothing. I told DH that it's not fair that this boy monopolizes an entire floor. Once again nothing.
So this morning, I told DH that unless he limits this boy's time playing videgogames in the family room, I'm going to want a discount on the half I pay for mortgage. And I am so serious. I am giving birth next month and there's no way my daughter and I are only going to be confined to my bedroom and the nursery.

Because I'm tired and fed up.
Because I'm tired and fed up. I have been doing almost all of the disciplining and establishing of rules for years and at 32 weeks pregnant, I've reached a breaking point. I would literally be doing it every day because nothing sticks with this child. Our family therapist told my DH and I that he needs to handle the majority of the disciplining or else the skids would resent me and we have reached that point now. So DH needs to handle it. If he doesn't, then I will have extra money in my pocket.

I would UNallow it. See tips above.
DS11 begged and begged for
DS11 begged and begged for the last 4-5 years for a TV/Xbox for his room "just like at dad's" and I fought it as I don't agree with kids locking themselves away in their room. We don't have a TV in our room either, I like us being a family watching TV. About 3 months ago DS11 got a new TV at his dad's and asked if he could bring his old one to our place so I decided to relent as he is almost 12. He now transports his Xbox back and forth from is dad's which is a pain but it is actually working out for the rest of the family. My DH (stepdad) doesn't have to put up with him talking loudly to the TV (and nor do the rest of us) and I have a whole range of instant punishments available to me now. Before I used to ask him to do a chore 3 times, now I come and whisper and if he doesn't immediately leap up I ask loudly and embarrassingly in front of his Xbox "friends". He has to stick to the agreed limited times or he misses out on any time at all the next day. Hasn't done homework? Oh dear, no Xbox then.
If there is a possibility of a cheap TV he could put in his room and it seems SS is the only one using the PS4 anyway could this buy you some peace and quiet? Especially with baby coming - this will help you reclaim your house and he will be the one locked in his room instead!
