Weekend Updates
Overall it was fairly low-key.
But DH was really, really distracted over job-related things (and his ADD does not help) and I had to pick up some slack which was irritating, but I didn't over-step.
I made sure SDs cleaned up the bathtub and clean out their sink/tub drain. Minor complaining but they did it. Also made sure SD14 cleaned it again during the weekend, but haven't been home to check to see if SD11 did the same (betting not, but that'll be her first task on Wednesday). DH has been supporting me in this so that's progress.
DH remains wish-washy on telling the SDs to get things done in spite of recent conversations we've had on topics like general help cleaning up, moving SD11 to her bedroom, laundry, SD14 cleaning her room. I'm staying clear of that.
I put 4 glasses in a collection on the back deck this weekend. Got really sick of dealing with it. The door was the closest place and I decided against throwing them off (I'd have to clean up the broken glass then, really). So it looks like I'll be back to collecting/donating all the new glasses DH just bought. I'm just done helping with basics and DH continues to get irritated when I ask people to clean up their stuff. OK then, I'll be done with it for sure. In fact, on Saturday morning I left a complete mess in the kitchen, just like everyone else does. DH cleaned it up w/out a word but I could tell he knew what that was about. Of course, the SDs were alone last night for dinner and the kitchen was a mess, I didn't touch it.
DH did finally get bank accounts for the SDs. SD14 has a checking/savings and SD11 a savings. On our way to the bank (I was with them b/c we were running multiple errands) DH asks SD11, "Do you want a bank account?" WTF DH?! SD11, "No, I don't want a bank account." Like she knows ANYTHING about it. I said then and there, "DH, you get her a savings account, that's it. Just get it while we're there. What's the issue?" He didn't say anything but she did get the account. Because YOU'RE the parent DH! They get a 6% return on kids accounts! Holy cow, do it! He was only half-way paying attention to the accounts rep, she ended up talking mostly to me. SDs got a print out of their accounts and cards and left all the paperwork in my car (sensitive info the rep said do not leave lying around). I threw it into his office. Now I'm done with any of that.
Oh, and I ended up cooking dinner every night.
I have to let that go (it's good food so it's hard to stop).
DH just hates parenting. That's all.
He thinks it should be easy and kids grow up knowing all this already and they don't need help or correction or structure. I need to start being gone on some weekends again.

I have the same struggles.
I have the same struggles. SS is 15 and his only legit chore is taking out the recycles. Even then, DH thinks that the poor helpless snowflake should only have to do it once per day. I asked DH one day "What are you going to do when SS lives on his own? Drive to his house multiple times per day to take out his recycles since the poor baby should only do it once?" He just kinda laughed but the idiot probably considered it.
I. just. don't. understand. it.
