Downton Abbey SM
Downton Abbey, which takes place about 100 years ago, is probably my favorite program. Earlier in the season, one of the characters, an older lady, was proposed to. Last week the man's grown son insulted her. The man asked his son to apologize to his future SM. In last night's episode, the woman received a nasty note from her future SS, telling her he would never accept her marriage to his Father. The woman told the man she could not marry him if she was not accepted by his children.
What surprise me is that it is so rare to view this situation as it usually is instead of watching another Cinderella story on TV. Another thing is that she had enough self-worth to tell the man she was not willing to endure his son's rude behavior to her.
As DH and I were watching this scene, I wondered what was going through his mind. I wanted to say, "This is what I went through with your daughter", but I kept quiet, hoping it would occur to him.
Hopefully, this situation which we all sadly share will be brought to light more often.
Where can I catch Season One?
Where can I catch Season One? I do get PBS but they are on Season 5 I think and I'd like to get hooked from the beginning!
I was just thinking the other
I was just thinking the other day how nice it would be if there were a series to watch or movies that stepmoms could relate. I just added all the Downton Abbey series to my netflix. My dh works nites so I will be curling up on the couch each nite till I get through them and I especially want to watch the the program you mentioned.
Can you stream it on Netflix
Can you stream it on Netflix or do you have to get the DVDs?
I had to get the dvd's
I had to get the dvd's
Maybe the writers were
Maybe the writers were reading Steptalk and saw the reality of steplife! Good decision, Mrs. Crawley!
Thanks for mentioning that it
Thanks for mentioning that it was Mrs. Crawley. It DOES seem like someone was reading Steptalk, huh? Her character has been portrayed as a loving, generous woman. No one in their right mind would think ill of her. She's the closest thing to Mother Teresa I've seen on TV. But it just goes to show sometimes it doesn't matter if you've attained sainthood a jealous Skid will make unfair judgements on you.
i was thinking the same
i was thinking the same thing. too bad a selfish son stood in the way of his fathers happiness.
the character dickie already was shown to have been unhappy in an arranged aristocratic marriage and was rather relieved when his wife eventually died. he loved mrs crawley and sincerely wanted to be in a happy marriage.
yet another case of a twit asc ruining their parents life and happiness.
nice to see this on a tv show where brady bunch character all live happily together.
