I am 26 and I have two step daughters and I also have a step mother. her and my dad have been married for 10 years together for about 12 or 13 years (in technical terms my dad is my step-father but in actuality he is the only dad I’ve really ever known since he’s been in my life since I was a year old). My dad and I have a GREAT relationship, even after he and my mom divorced. I also have a biological father and he has a wife (I’m just recently building a relationship with them over the last 2-3 years). Now that I am a stepmom, I can see where maybe it was difficult at times for my biological father to deal with my mother to some degree (which I am just now coming to the realization of) but my mother (as far as I know) NEVER denied him access to me even after she and my dad married. I think my resentment toward him came from the fact that regardless of how hard it may have been he didn’t fight for me the way my husband does with his girls (i.e. the court ORDERED my biological father to get a paternity test and then they type wrote his name on the birth certificate. My husband spent money to FIGHT his oldest daughter’s mother in court to prove that he was the father and get his name put on the birth certificate and get visitation. Not many fathers these days do that!) So I think that giving up is the WORST thing you can do because the not trying is the most hurtful part. On the other hand, each person has their own breaking point and don’t let anyone take you past that where you do something stupid, dangerous, etc…Hope this helps…

My 13 yr old has started to turn against her Dad. Part of it is her age & stage.. part of it is his actions. It boils down to hurt feelings. Real or imagined. On both sides...

I believe my stepson dislikes me, I know this by his actions towards me. I truly believe his biomom had brainwashed him to dislike me. I don't really care.
