Dear Valued Users,
It's with a heavy heart that we announce the permanent closure of StepTalk.org on August 31st, 2025.
This decision wasn't an easy one. For over twenty years, StepTalk has been a source of support for stepparents around the world! However, over the years, the costs associated with maintaining and upgrading the site to remain secure, meet current standards and maintain availability have become unsustainable.
We are incredibly grateful for your support, contributions and the community you've helped us build. Your engagement has made StepTalk.org a special place and we cherish the memories and connections made here.
We would especially like to thank Aniki for volunteering to be a moderator and for caring so much.
Thank you for being a part of our journey and we wish you all the best.
Sincerely,
Dawn and The StepTalk Team

Earthquake...
It was scary! I thought my bldg was going to collapse. We had no electricity for the whole day and into the evening. Some parts of the island still has no power. People were rushing to the stores to buy supplies/food. Most of the stores were closed. Thanks for asking. We are all okay. School is in session today.

Aloha...from the cheese state
Hi Happy Mom...I just moved from Hawaii to Wisconsin two months ago. All of my family live in Hawaii. I heard about the quake and feel really bad for everyone there, especially the Big Island people. Glad to hear that you guys are ok...all of my family lives on Oahu and they weren't affected too badly by it. My sister did tell me that her and her boyfriend waited for over an hour to buy dinner from McDonalds last night. It must have been pretty crazy. Well..just wanted to say hi.

Earthquake....
I live on Oahu too. No big damage here, just the electricity went out. Many people were not prepared for disaster, if they are out getting food it means that they did not stock up canned goods or a portable stove to cook on, better yet a generator. We used our generator and hooked up the refrigerator and cooked w/it, wonderful!
This local psychic lady predicted this earthquake about a month back on the radio station. She predicts the next one at the end of Nov., the 28th to be exact. We'll see, so far she is right on the dot. There was another EQ at the island of Hawaii this morning.

Too.. I called my brother last night to make sure that his family was ok too. My mom and sister made it sound like it totally hit them. MY brother said no it was not there island.. But he said they felt it.. But went to a birthday party afterwards.. So all is well. I am glad that you and your family are safe too..
Glad you made it!
I lived in California for quite a while and remember those experiences like it was yesterday! One earthquake was so strong all of the pool water flew up out of one side of the pool and splashed the back of the house like a giant wave!
