In tears after CPS visit
The case worker said she is happy that everything is ok and has a few things to check but will most likely be filing that the case is unfounded.
I'm just exhausted and questing everything and upset that SD would do this.

Judge signed the paperwork, DH has full legal custody...waiting to see if BM shows up on our doorstep accusing him of kidnapping
Thanks to the magic of electronic communication we have a signed copy of the court order which gives my husband full legal custody of SD12 and which shows that she will be living with us during the accademic year.
Overdue update...or... how to loose custody of your two kids in the same year
It's been a long long time since I updated and my husband finally went through a lawyer to get things changed so thought I'd update what has been going on.
Changes
Thought I'd post an update as things have changed here and although I don't post often I know a few of you know my situation.
BM and my husband agreed that sd10 would move back to living with BM for the next two school years and visit here over winter and summer vacations. (This is the opposite of what was happening for the last two years). Then after that sd would come and live here for 2 more years. They have paperwork written up which should ensure this happens.
Sd left a couple of weeks back for her mother's and will be back for winter break.

Questions for a new therapist
After a couple of years of trying to make my life into something I am satisfied with and failing, I am finally getting close to biting the bullet and going to see a therapist. I have found one that specializes in anxiety (which I think I suffer from a mild form of) and some other issues in my life.
He says he also covers families of all configurations but does not specifically say he covers step families. I am not sure really where my main issues lie and it is probably a mixture of a number of things and certainly being a step mom contributes in a small way.

Homework/ Black history month/ what would you do?
Every week my sd9 gets set reading comprehension type homework which is set from a text usually relating to something topical for the time of year. This weeks text is about black history month. Twice in the text they refer to Africans (note, NOT African-American) where they presumably mean black people in general.

BM asking for money
SD8 lives with us full time during the school year and visits her mother in the vacations. This has been the arrangement for about 18months. The first 12 months my husband agreed to pay BM money every month to help her 'get on her feet' and also to sweeten the deal as we moved away and SD came with us. BM agreed to all of this. So last summer BM was still receiving her money. This summer however all of a sudden a mere few weeks before SD is going to see BM, BM says that she cannot afford the summer camp she was relying on taking SD to so that she had some child care while she is at work.

Well done, you had sex and you were lucky enough that your body produced a baby - wooty woot for you
"I'm proud of many things in my life, but nothing beats being a mother"
This was on my facebook feed - is it the ultimate GU slogan?
There must be others that you've seen. Which are the worst offenders?
Summer of freedom...what would you do?
SD7 is off to spend the summer with her BM in a few days so in theory (unless BM throws any spanners in the works) my husband and I will have 2 months child free.
We are thinking of starting to try to expand our family in the autumn with our own kids, so this potentially could be our last childless summer for a long while. What would you do with a child free summer?
Our thoughts are to get out and enjoy the city more, I want to do some art projects and maybe take a break away somewhere if we've the money. What would you do if you had two months of summer child free?

Grateful to have SD with me today.
Well SD7 earned her keep today when I locked us out of the house!
I locked us out of the house this morning and of course my husband (at work) didn't have his keys on him either. So after calling the landlord, getting no response and leaving a voicemail message we went to get restorative hot drinks. Then back to the house to try the windows, and fortunately I was able to open one and SD, being the great climber that she was got in through the window and opened the door for me. Phew.. She saved us the cost of a locksmith, not sure if I would have gotten in as easily as her!
