Mental Illness
I just...ugh. BM continually makes things out to be the worst they can be. She is also a liar. She has had so many cancers and diseases she should have been dead and buried 3 yrs ago. And I think that is where they get it from. 2/3 have now been in serious therapy. And 1 of them has had a 72 hr hold in a psych ward for homicidal thoughts. I do not take mental illness lightly..I don't. I do believe they are faking. As soon as the "illness" or "problem" can conveniently go away it does. They use it to get attention. I know they do. SS18 first pulled the shit the day me and DH told them I was pregnant with DD1. SS13 is now saying the EXACT same thing after I pulled all the video game systems in the room. They both said, "I am hearing and seeing things". BOTH. Nobody has been diagnosed with anything. I will never tell my DH, BM. or any of the skids that I feel that its BS. Because if it is a REAL problem I don't want to mess with treatment, and I know how devastating to rehabilitation/treatment that comments or opinions like that can be. I thought BM would kind of wake up to what she was doing to her kids with her fake illnesses. But instead she posted online a weird tribute to the man he could be?

My SD pulled this type of
My SD pulled this type of crap, but when she ended up in the psych ward for a week she never pulled it again. Your DH needs to address this, if this continues his children are going to have a life of being dependent on him and society. I think you need to start speaking up and point out that this kind of thing happens every time they do not get their way. Sometimes men are oblivious until someone points out the obvious. This should also be discussed with a counselor. I would call them on their behavior, "Oh that's interesting that started when your games got taken away!" etc. I also would not "allow" it to just "go away". Well you probably should not go to your friends house, because of your "homicidal thoughts I feel you need to stay were we can supervise you"
That is my problem. I don't
That is my problem. I don't dare say anything or even raise an eyebrow because if it was an actual issue I would feel horrible. With SS18 he cut on himself, but really it was not deep and was really scratches. When we took him to the hospital they did not admit him, even for 24 hours. However, SS13 was admitted for 72 hours. So hopefully that puts an end to it. Time will tell I guess.
While Im glad to say my SS
While Im glad to say my SS doesn't do this nor does his BM, I will say my cousin and Aunt pull this crap all the time. It's almost the end of the school year and I don't think my cousin N18 has gone to school for a full 5-day week yet. He brother might have kept up his attendance in the beginning half so he could run track but once his grades got him kicked off the team, he faked an injury to tell my grandparents (the ones raising them) to get out of it. They both plea headaches, breathing problems, tiredness. I would believe them if I didn't see them post on social media them drinking on a Thursday night (with their BM) or at the beach on a Friday they are suppose to be in school. My grandparents have guardianship over them and they back to my Aunts on the weekend but essentially my grandparents are treated like stepparents and their mother gets to be DisneyMom. Like you said, you would think without a diagnosis the BM's would realize when they are being played for a sick day; but you can't be the cool parent if you call them out on their shit.
With SS18 I saw the
With SS18 I saw the manipulation right away. He would text me from school saying he was sick or hearing/seeing things and I would go pick him up. (After getting BM or DH's OK). It was amazing how after 20 mins past school release time he would suddenly feel so much better. So well he would go play basketball. :? Dh never said a thing to him, knowing he had just spent half the day in the room "sick" or whatever you would like to call it. About the 3rd time, as he was walking out the door I told him,"Do not call me anymore to come get you from school. I will not. In fact I will not answer. You cannot skip half the day at school because you dont feel well and then go play BB. Call DH or BM from now on." He stopped after that, but I had to be the parent when DH or BM should have done it to begin with.
