SO made the girls do yardwork!

As some of you know, I like my skids and they are generally good kids. One of my only gripes about them is they are a bit lazy, which I know comes with the age (Sd11 and SD14) They do not actively seek to help out around the house, which I know I didn't at that age.

I told SO in advance that he needed to tell the girls that they will be bagging leaves this weekend. I was very serious about it....last time they were here he and I bagged leaves while they sat inside and watched TV, and I was not about to let that happen again!

OT - Need wedding advice

CBCharlotte's picture

SO and I will be getting married on Sept 6. As I am starting this whole process, people are asking me questions and I realize I have NO IDEA what I am doing. I need help!

Is there anything you wish you knew before your wedding?
Is there anything you wish you had done differently at your wedding or before your wedding?
Any advice on anything?

For example, I read somewhere that the bride regretted spending so much on flowers she would only use for one day, and wish she spent more on a better band or photographer. Stuff like that.

BM2 is a whacko

Last year for Christmas, we bought SS3 a book last Christmas called "I Love You, Through and Through" We wrote a little note inside saying we loved him and missed him and Merry Christmas.

I just unpacked his bag and BM2 had packed the same book, but she apparently bought a new copy and wrote inside "TO SS3, I love you SO much! You will always be my baby boy Smile Love, Mommy and Stepdaddy"

SO FINALLY stood up to BM2! And I'm hiding in my office

BM2 (mother of SS3 and SS5) is a huge bully. She has a massive case of GUS (Golden Uterus Syndrome). SS5 isn't even biologically SO's since she cheater with her first husband (She's on #3 and in her late 30s).

He only gets to talk to the boys maybe 3 times a month because she NEVER picks up the phone. I get that you're busy with young kids, but call back at a more convenient time or send a text saying "We're in the middle of something now, can you call back at 6:30?"

Gift ideas for out of state skids?

CBCharlotte's picture

We have SS4 and SS5 with us for Christmas this year. They live in Texas, and we live in North Carolina. We are trying to come up with unique gift ideas. They have SO many toys at their moms house and will only be getting more. Any gifts we get them will have to stay here (and we don't have them again until summer) or be shipped back. We got them a few small things (light saber, tool set) and are looking for other unique ideas.

I want to get them those story books where you can record your voice reading to them and they can follow along. Any other ideas?

Pre-nup advice needed

CBCharlotte's picture

My SO and I plan to marry next year (we should be engaged in a month or two). I've mentioned it once or twice in passing, but once we are engaged I want to start working on a pre-nup. I feel very strongly that this will protect us both. His last divorce from BM2 was long and drawn out and messy as she was so greedy and wanted all of his money. She even raided her step daughters college fund (who she loves sooooo much bla bla bla). Disgusting woman. I obviously want to go into my marriage in love and trust and good faith. I love him very much.
