Poll: How comfortable would you be taking a major paycut if it meant a better work/life balance?
Hi fellow Step Monsters! An opportunity came across my email today for a different job. Only 40 hour work weeks with ability to work from home sometimes, zero traveling (I am traveling to around 3-4 different states each week now)and way more of a work/life balance.
The only caveat: 15,000 pay cut. Ouch. They did say that obviously as the company revenue increases as they plan in 2018 they can afford to offer me a raise.
OT/ At what point do you say "enough" in your career
So this is part rant part "what the H-E double hockey sticks do I do?"
I took my current job because DH got transferred. I didn't have any qualms because its the town I went to High School and I would be close to my Dad's side of the family etc. I was hesitant about taking the job.. but decided that I should just jump on the offer I got as opposed to waiting around and having no job for an unknown span of time.
OT-Man when Monday hits.. Monday REALLY hits
Between hate texts from a belligerent BM all morning (latent reaction to say the least and at this point I am fully convinced she has to be bipolar) and yes she is now blocked.. and finding out that I don't get that job that only requested half a dozen interviews I took time out of my current work schedule for. Ugh don't ya hate it when you get hit from all sides?
Today is one of those days you want to fake your death, move to Mexico and live off of Tequila and Tacos.
Now.. where did I put that tequila...

Advice and Pep talk for SS's Birthday--with all of BM's family
Ok as steps we have those "those events" that we want to be at for the sake of the kid, cause they asked, but you know you would rather nail your tongue to a table and pour salt on the wound than show up. The 22nd is SS's 7th bday. We are going of course, BM actually made a point to say to DH that "she"(meaning me) could come. The first part will be for the kids at a laser tag place.. then we are all going to BM's house for cake and presents. DH's family does not live around here so it will pretty much be just DH and I with the following:
1. BM (obviously)
The 6 year old from the depths of Hades--what happened?
Ok, like any 6 year old boy, step son can be rambunctious and whine a little. Usually a stern "knock it off" from either his dad or myself will do the trick to adjust the behavior. This past Thursday we pick the kid up to go on a vacation to visit DH's family. Something just seemed "off" from the time we picked them up. SS was super mopey and quiet and didn't act like his usual self. DH said that when he walked in to get the rest of the bags he saw BM kneeling really close to SS and SS replied "Aw mom not you made me feel bad". We have no idea what she said--we didn't ask.
Court Mediation with BM
So BM agreed to court mediation to review CS after our lawyer requested to go back to court and she can't afford it. When she first got the letter she went all Crazy Town like we anticipated and finally agreed to mediation instead of court.

Im a non believer... but things are getting creepy
Ok Steptalkers I have a quandary that I am in that is far from the normal BM drama. DH and I live on post--we moved to our current house back in October. I am a very logical thinker.. I don't believe in scary stuff, a house makes noises--it's normal, and I can usually find a practical explanation for everything. Except this.

Well we found out what the "backpack" money was for.. and oh dear god
So we just got SD down last night when BM texts DH asking "What does Azithromycin treat?" (DH is a medic). DH is confused and asked "It treats a lot of things...Why would the doc prescribe an antibiotic for our son if you don't know what it is treating. What did the doc say is wrong with son?" She says its not for son its for her.
