Don't it make her brown eyes Blue...aka blindness should be fun

OY...the level of stupidty that emminates from Beaver is simply astounding...

SD has brown eyes...SS has blue eyes.  Despite my eyes being brown and the VI's eyes being brown, DS has bright blue eyes and DD has gray eyes.  Gotta love the recessive genes...cause DD also has red hair.  DH and I both have brown eyes....

SD wants blue eyes like everyone else.....mmkay...

Apparently Beaver has ordered SD colored contact from a website so SD can have blue eyes.

No eye doctor to fit them or anything...and SD has perfect vision..just ordered some random colored contacts and stuck them in SD's eyes.

MMM..this would not be too bad except for the fact SD CANNOT take care anything...she had her ears pierced four seperate times because SD and Beaver could not keep her ears clean and they kept getting infected.   One time was so bad, DH had to take her to the local Children's hospital because she developed a hematoma on her earlobe the size of a silver dollar.  Yea..that was fun..they had to lance that sucker and 14 days of antibiotics.

My confidence in SD and/or Beaver being able to keep SD from getting an eye infection is non-existent.

Oh and SD donated her brand new airpods to the Lady of the Lake last week.  Took them with her to go fishing with Mr. Beaver Sr. and dropped them on the dock.  Into the drink they went.  She had them for 6 weeks...but hey lets let her put sh*t in her eyes. That will go well...

Dh told SD..great and when your eyes become infected or your scratch your cornea...your mom can deal with it.

SD is now all mopey because we were not on board with the random colored contacts and the donation of the air pods..

All that keeps going through my head is the Crystal Gale song....Don't it make her brown eyes blueee.....

Well this is interesting because I have the exact opposite situation and SD has been obsessing over how special and unique her and BMs eye color is (brown, but they insist they're hazel and now amber because that's more special). The rest of us have blue eyes. She keeps looking up things on youtube about how special her eye color is, which is funny because BM used to post on instagram about that constantly.

DD has gray eyes...which are rare.  She has my Dad's eyes..his are the exact same shade of gray. But she sure doesn't go posting about them.....

Out of curiosity I went to 1800-Contacts to see if they sold them. There are good brands (Like Air Optix) there that you can get without a prescription for color but they are pricey!! $80 a box. I don't spend that much on my own and I am almost legally blind without them.

Iamwoman is right though, if she has astigmatism she can mess herself up and cause other issues.

If the contacts were daily wears and a reputable brand, I could see it not being as big of a deal for your SD and if they didn't work and were uncomfortable, she would find out pretty quickly. I seriously doubt any of that is the case though.

but I don't trust either of those two to use good hygiene or any other good habits with contact.  Plus the woman won't pay for school lunches, medical care or anything else..but boy howdy lets buy colored contact.

Ugh, can't we just accept ourselves for what we are naturally???? I don't get this. My brain can't fathom sticking contact lenses in my eyes (and I wear them because I'm blind) for looks. Seems silly, sorry.

My SD13 wears fashion glasses even though her eyesight is fine. She's also started dressing like me... and trying to curl her straight hair to look like mine. She doesn't seem to like anything about me except my style.

I wouldn't support a cosmetic thing like that, especially with a history of poor hygine.

BM in our case actually works for a plastic surgeon so I'm sure if SD wants any cosmetic enhancements they might end up being more permanent than colored contacts....

that is SCAREY...WOW..yeah plastic surgery is very permanent. ew...

THis just makes me sad :(  It really makes me wonder what SD has heard to make her feel she needs the blue eyes... I get the experiementing with her looks. But it makes me feel like someone has said something to make her feel less than.

who likes to gloat over SD about his eyes being blue.  Or its her friends who are ALL ABOUT..looks, designer clothes etc.

The SDs have beautiful green/hazel eyes, just like BM. DH, DD and I have blue eyes.  SD7 wants blue eyes in the worst way and talks about it often, but no one is entertaining her nonsense.

Beaver is an idiot, but you already knew that.

As someone who has worn contacts for over 20 years, this makes me extremely nervous. I have worn the dailies since they came out, because I'm not interested in putting my eyes at risk and eye infections can be pretty nasty. I would never order contacts from anyone other than a) an eye doctor or b) a reputable online contact lens dealer...one who mostly sells lenses to correct vision. Also, wearing contacts is not always fun. They can get dry and hurt or you can get something small in your eye and it feels like someone is stabbing you with a sword. I don't think I would wear them if I didn't have to, to correct my vision.

As someone with brown eyes, it is difficult to make dark eyes look a different color without lenses that look really artificial. When I was in high school, I considered colored contacts. There were new types at the time that you could use with prescription lenses and I thought they looked interesting, but the ones that were for brown eyes looked super artficial and I didn't want to look clown-like.

crazy nervous.   I had those colored contacts and yea to make my brown almost black eyes green it took a lot and didn't look all the great.

The one thing (in my opinion) you should never change about yourself is your eye color. I know a few people (co-workers) you wear color contacts. I don't understand it. Everyone eyes are unique in their own way no matter what the color is.

I knew a girl in high school who wore colored contacts, she had very pretty eyes naturally so I never understood why she wore them, but to each their own.  I would conveniently leave a webpage open to an infected eye from wearing contacts.  Also let SD know when she picks out her glass eyes they can be the blue she requires...too bad she won't be able to see them.
