Oh boy....
Haven't posted in a while because things have been fairly decent of late, mostly because SD15 has been banned from our home since May. DH & I have taken her out to lunch or out to dinner a few times, mostly because DH wants to keep trying to keep lines of communication open and he REALLY wants me to be a part of that.
Tonight we are taking her to dinner and we haven't seen her in over a week, so I'm not looking forward to having to even be around her. But...it is what it is.

Drama Day
Today is the day that DH & his skank-ex (BM) were married. Every year since their divorce BM stirs up some massive drama & chaos just because today is the day they got married. Never mind that she has moved on & is in a relationship; never mind that DH is with me. She feels the need to act out on this day.
So far....nothing. All quiet on the BM front. But...the day is young.
Any bets on what shit she'll stir up this year???

Ours vs. Hers
Reading a thread on General Discussion about wanting to keep your own laptop safe from skids, made me think about something I did this past week. SD15 uses OUR laptop whenever she's at our house (which, thankfully & blessedly she hasn't been at our house for over 2 months since she was banned for her latest crap she pulled).

Disengaging...It's Awesome!
At first I wondered how it would work. But, I'm beginning to get the hang of it. Right now it's easy, because neither SD is around that much.
But when they are around, disengaging makes things SO much easier. I'm sure I need to keep working on it, but the more you do it, the easier it gets!
Thank you to all the wise men & women here who advocate for disengaging. How clever of you to have figured this out.

Post Script to Wedding Photo Issue
True to form, SD25 who is getting married in October, told her awesome mother that DH refuses to be in any wedding photos with BM.
DH received a hate-text from BM late last night....a drunk-text....saying:

Does anyone here....
...ever just think to themselves "No, you little shit, you will NOT win this war!" You are the child; I am the adult; and you will NOT win this."
Anyone????

SD25 Getting Married
Good Gawd....just shoot me now. The wedding is early October, and they got engaged last New Year's Eve. This emotionally immature, spoiled, self-absorbed, entitled brat has talked of nothing else sense getting engaged.
She & her sister (SD15) treated DH & I like shit when he & I got married (which is precisely why he & I eloped because we didn't want them or their mother ruining our day). Yet, we're supposed to be all giddy about her impending wedding? Don't think so.

Taking Sides
So many of us stepmonsters write about how the skids want to force their bio-parent (dad or mom) to "take their side" or to choose them over the stepmonster.
My thoughts on this are (and what I'd like to tell my SD14): There aren't any "sides" you idiot! The only reason it seems that there is a side to be taken or a choice to be made is because of YOUR behavior.

Trying To Get Over What She Said...
Currently SD14 is banned from our home from several incidents of bullshit she has caused, including sneaking over to our home while banned to go swimming in the pool. Lovely.
